bigideas
According to his latest blog post, David Ryan Adams has quit the band and the biz. How long does he make it? Two weeks? If that long. He's already said he wanted to quit the Cardinals several times and then he comes back with a blog a few days later about how it's the best thing for him and he doesn't want to be a solo artist. Analogman
me- 34-a non smoker and happy, for the first time in my life.. i am excited to finish this wonderful time i have had with the cardinals and whatever new adventures may come after march. atlanta will be my last venture with the band and i am grateful for the time we have had and maybe someday we will have more stories to tell together. i am however ready for quieter times as i think it is very evident i am struggling with some balance and hearing issues. also, no drama or anything but i am okay to step back from all of this right now and i think i did enough manic blogging when i felt alone and isolated during the last few years of travel. these last few years were the hardest i can remember and the most rewarding but i have loved ones to care for now and i am lucky i have been given a chance to turn around and see just what i am capable of as a friend and as someone who is not gone forever every year- it rendered me incapable of things i needed to be to myself and others- and my schedule sometimes never ended when the shows did- and some of that was my doing. and i lost someone i loved, and i lost myself. that changed. i got to know just who i am in this little spell of time here recently. and change is the nature of the world and i naturally embrace that. i won

MattZ
I feel bad for the guys in the band - they are out of a job. I have felt bad for those guys for a long time. Even when they were in the band with him. I also feel badly for Ryan. He brings so much of this on himself, though. Ugh.

mjpuczko
it's hard to watch this rollercoaster. on one hand, i love his music & wish he would keep putting stuff out. on the other hand, he seems to not be dealing with the music business, etc very well & it seems to be affecting his mental state. that might be more important than me enjoying some new songs from him. Wendy
I love Ryan Adams and The Cardinals. I will miss seeing them, but they've toured a long time, and I am thinking this is a cyclic thing, and here is a cut-and-paste from the RAA which I think sounds about right. Plus, he has booked some pretty large venues for these final few shows, just saying maybe he needs to advertise that it is the end of an era with him and the band. But never say never when it comes to RA. But I do worry about the hearing issue, that is nothing "created" IMO. Apparently he stated in an interview he was moving to Paris. Sounds wonderfully creative! And I won't be seeing any of these final shows. Hope they make a DVD. Analogman
I am sure Lost Highway or whoever will go on releasing Ryan Adams music no matter what he does. As I recall, he recently completed demos for a new album not to long ago. The whole process was up on his blog for a while. I have read that the tour with Oasis did not do very well financially. Wendy
Every one of those guys in Cardinals will find work somewhere. They should contact Jay Bennett and do an album.
dondoboy
I don't think he can stop making records. Or I hope he doesn't at least. Its good to take a break. And the rest of the band are incredible musicians even without his leadership. Maybe they'll stay together on their own.
Kalle
He's said that he was going to quit blogging about 10 times in the past year and he keeps on coming back to it, I really don't believe that he will stop playing music forever either, he's very very quick to make big decisions concerning his life it seems and this seems no different than anything else. I completely agree with other posts about feeling bad for the guys in the band, he must be super super hard to create with let alone spend that much time with on tour etc. Not to sound cynical because I love Ryan's records and think he's a fantastic songwriter but he will probably break up with this new girlfriend and come back with a new record, book etc etc. before we know it. If he does stick not making any more records it is a shame, that voice...
nodep5
Out of everything he says he is going to quit, I hope he just says enough with the blogging. We all haver our issues and unfortunately Ryan sometimes is too out front or public about his. We all struggle with indecision, fear, doubt, medical issues, psychological issues, relationships, etc., but Ryan (who is partially a semi famous celeb) makes this public, further giving ammunition for the haters. I frankly love almost everything he produces musically and try not to analyze his personal life, because for me that usually hurts my attraction to most musicians. Anyway, just don't canx the upcoming shows, I've already been burned by Ryan live a few times (canx a show to play SAT NIGHT LIVE, and a drunken/drugged out performance on the Rock n Roll/ Love is Hell tour)
DawgSong
Cat is so starved for attention, yet says he doesn't want any. What the hell ever, same ol same ol. With that said my fav atist and looking forward to ATL, B-Ham, and the 2 Nashville shows.
Analogman
Although I respect The Cardinals, I think the music he makes with them is a bit one dimensional. In the future, I would hope he either does some solo acoustic work, and/or something with a bit more raunch.
