The latest Ryan Adams thread

Recommended Posts

Oh, you guys. I don't mean any disrespect, or disagree all that much. When I go to a show now I go to see the band and soak up the experience. But when I was 17 or 22 I went to have fun with all the other idiots I stuffed into my Escort. I like to cut the idiots and kids some slack.

I think a music message board may be the perfect place to say, sometimes the drunk guy at the Ryan Adams show is more entertaining then the performer.

I dunno, I guess I find this behavior particularly irksome at a Ryan Adams concert, since he's a performer with a reputation for volatility, and I think people should know better than to poke that bear. 'Cause that means a truncated setlist, more often that not. But I guess someone who's there to holler drunkenly and try to get a rise out of the artist probably wouldn't care much about the setlist...aaaaaand here we are back to square one :lol Please pass the Centrum Silver...

That's a fair statement. I've only seen him twice. And both times I felt like I had wasted money and time on him. So I'm jaded. He makes such great records it just baffles me how sketchy his live act is/was. I would be far more interested in his live shows if he did this to the hecklers:

I hear that. If it was so bad you felt you didn't get your money's worth, I can definitely understand not wanting to take that chance again. When I first saw him years ago....well, it was a strange evening to say the least. I think he used to be a lot more hit-or-miss.

But he's really impressed me lately, in the past two years especially. The sets have been nothing less than epic.

At Dallas I think people yelled Whiskeytown and other stuff.

He just laughed it off and joked around. They never left the stage, started pretty much on time, and kept playing until past curfew.

I hear you on the feeling you wasted some money. I've been to a few Ryan Adams shows myself and on two occassions thought they were some of the best I've ever seen from anyone and on the last occassion is was embarrassing and almost bad enough to question my fandom. That being said I'm holding my breath for the show in feb I have tickets to.

I just think that unruly fans are either drunk/high/ or self involved to the point that they can't stand someone else (the performer) getting more attention than them.

Hey, your life (speaking in general) and whatever the hell you are talking about during a solo acoustic set can wait till after the show. I'm pretty sure it isn't that important.

Yeah, an acoustic set is sacred.

so he just forgot his last rant and is back to normal now?

i guess 'bug' is Mandy Moore?

my guess is that he still plans on stepping back from the Cardinals. maybe finish up their new record and lay low for a while. a while for him may be a month, lol.

im pretty sure "bug" is Mandy Moore. recall seeing a pic of em a while back and he had referred to her as "bug" in the caption.

on a side note, i hear that there are plans on releasing more of that footage that was included on that "September" dvd. supposedly, the guy had filmed Ryan Adams and the Cardinals that entire year, so we'd get to see behind the scenes footage from Cold Roses, JCN, and 29!!! of course, these plans are lumped into the unreleased boxed set plans, but hey, at least this stuff is out there and has been talked about getting released.

Hilarious:

In 2004, Moore began dating Scrubs actor Zach Braff, whom she met around November 2004. Referring to Braff, Moore said that she likes "good Jewish boy(s)... with a sense of humor". In 2006, the two were incorrectly reported to be engaged; they ended their relationship the same year. In early 2007, media reports linked Moore to Adam Goldstein, known professionally as "DJ AM", though the two were reported to have ended their relationship in March 2007. Also in 2007, she briefly dated actor/singer Greg Laswell. Moore currently dating singer-songwriter and New York hipster Ryan Adams, formerly of the alt-country band Whiskeytown.

I was going to say - I had no idea who she was, so I looked her up. The above quote is from Wikipedia.

Neil Finn's studio in New Zealand has been a popular place with some of our favorite artists lately.

My favorite line: When asked "how's it hanging out at Neil's place?"

RA: "When we first came in, he walked out of the control room, and I kind of pretended I didn't know who he was because I didn't want to freak out."

:lol

Nice ... "Fix It" solo piano performance. It was going beautifully until they shamefully faded it out before completion. :nono
