Man Man - Rabbit Habits

Beck - Modern Guilt

Stephen Malkmus - Real Emotional Trash

The Black Keys - Attack and Release

Hi Moe. :)

Those are my top four right now. I've slacked on picking up new music recently. 'Bout time for an Amazon.com binge.

Rabbit Habits is my #1 seed right now. You will not find a more rhythmically adventurous or well-textured album this year.

1. Cloud Cult

2. Man Man

3. Malkmus

4. Raconteurs

5. Black Keys

Who heard it last year though.

Record Geeks

:hmm .

(Not that I would've heard about it if Solace hadn't raved so much)

To your point tho, yeah. Much more noise has been made about it this year.

Constantines been mentioned yet?

Yeah, "Kensington Heights" yo.

the correct cover is up on wikipedia. the line-up was different. from what i've heard, only 200 copies were printed and sold at shows. personally, i don't really care for it. it's so much generic indie-pop to me...

-justin

I agree with the generic 'indie' comment. The last track is the only one that remotely sounds like the ep or s/t release.

Just like their record! Yay! One Shins is more than enough, I think. (New and Improved! Now with choral vocals and round robin singing! New, sort of, for indie pop!)

Cough. Sorry. Really not digging on the acclaim for Foxes or Bon Iver, though. So painfully standard, both of them...

Best of '08 by me looks like this, basically in order:

Alejandro Escovedo - Real Animal

The Drive By Truckers - Brighter Than Creation's Dark

The Hold Steady - Stay Positive

She and Him - Volume One

The Eddy Current Suppression Ring - Primary Colours*

MMJ - Evil Urges**

Bonnie Prince Billy - Lie Down in the Light

Ry Cooder - I, Flathead

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dig, Lazarus, Dig!

Sloan - Parallel Play

T Bone Burnett - Tooth of Crime

The Black Keys - Attack and Release

Elliott Brood - Mountain Meadows

Okkervil River - The Stand Ins

Lumps of poo that are crappy (or, my biggest disappointments of the year to date):

Matthew Sweet - Sunshine Lies

Wolf Parade - Zommy Zoomy Zimmy (whatever the fuck, I can't remember the title)

The New Odds - Cheerleader

The Kills - Goodnight

R.E.M. - Accelerate

*Look at me, all ahead of the curve. This is a Melbourne band who sound exactly like 1977. Think Wire, early Jam basslines and just fucking amazing (and amazingly loud) real punk.

**Fuck the critics, yo.

Matthew Sweet new album is out already? How does it compare to the last 4? I don't know how anyone can find Accelerate dissapointing but everyone is entitled to their opinion!
