Chez
I saw EV open for The Who at House of Blues in Chicago around 15 years ago. He came on stage and played "Tattoo" with the band (singing from the same mic as Pete) and looked about as happy as EV can look. Great moment.
Analogman
I have the cd Pete Townshend Live: A Benefit for Maryville Academy (1999). Eddie is on two tracks - Magic Bus and Heart To Hang Onto. I have not listened to that cd in years. I may have to listen to it this weekend.
bcdoc
Here is the set list from last night's Townshend-Vedder gig (courtesy of The Who board):Opening intro from RogerLeaving This Town(Simon)Forever And A Day(Simon)She Asked Me(Simon&Eddie)I'm The Answer (Simon&Eddie)Red Blue and Grey (Eddie)Far Behind (Eddie)Stand By Me(Pete&Eddie)Corrina Corrina(Bob Dylan cover, Pete&Eddie)Drowned(Pete solo)I'm One(Pete and band)The Kids Are Alright(Full band, Joe Walsh)Eminence Front (Full band, Joe Walsh)Summertime Blues (Full band, Joan Jett & Joe Walsh)I Can't Explain(Full band, Joan Jett &Joe Walsh)Behind Blue Eyes (Pete&Eddie)Betterman(Full band, Pete&Eddie) - seque into....... Save it For Later (full band)Won't Get Fooled Again(Full band, Joan Jett, Joe Walsh, Rick Nielsen & Eddie Vedder)My Generation(Full band, Joan Jett, Joe Walsh, Rick Nielsen & Eddie Vedder) The takeaway: Awesome. It was, without a doubt, a special night. The only issue I (and others) would have is that it was too short - 90 minutes. The atmosphere was electric by the end of "Generation," but they took their bows, said goodnight, and the house lights went on. In truth, it ended too abruptly, wishing for more and hoping it would extend into more songs and rarities. On the other hand, it was a benefit - and one must remember that. If these two ever decide to do a mini-tour, I would not hesitate in checking it out. Ever.
Analogman
A few surprises in there. Although PJ did a version of Leaving This Town some years back.

Hixter
Even though he's in the States at the moment, it's May 19th in the UK and that means Pete Townshend is 70 years old. Here's to many more happy and healthy years for ol' Pete.
Albert Tatlock
Heard about an upcoming documentary film about Kit Lambert and the other guy. Googling produced this amongst other hits:- http://www.mojo4music.com/20254/the-who-managers-exposed-in-new-documentary/

bcdoc
I am doing a little surfing on the web as I listen to the stream on WFUV, and I came across the review of today's The Who show in Hyde Park. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/live-music-reviews/11699900/The-Who-British-Summer-Time-Festival-Hyde-Park-review-The-new-Who-can-still-thrill-five-decades-on.html
Analogman
I Can See For Miles Still one of the best sounding Who songs I ever heard.
Hixter
Pete was really disappointed that the song didn't propel them into the charts.

Analogman
I recently bought the SACD (2003) version of Tommy and just now got around to checking out the booklet. When I opened the cd case - there was no booklet to be found. I don't think this has ever happened to me before. I am guessing it was probably the same notes from the first re-master. But - maybe not.
Hixter
Pete's brother, Simon, just posted this on his blog: Good News and Bad News September 8, 2015 Yes, I know…. This webpage blog update is long overdue! I feel compelled to make a brief statement concerning recent developments. First, the bad news: Poor Roger Daltrey (my brother) has been unwell lately. Subsequently the first 4 shows of the 2nd leg of ‘The Who Hits 50′ tour have been postponed. An announcement will be made shortly as to when they will be rescheduled. The good news is that Lisa Climie image has taken over my management. The usual ST crew is staying fully involved under the Stir Music banner but Lisa is stepping in to give me a kick start and get me working on my long awaited solo acoustic album, featuring some of my best songs Performed and sung by some of my favourite artist friends. Hopefully get me on some big festivals and / or support tours next year, too. Visit Lisa’s webpage here: http://www.lcmanagemusic.com Ok. Well, that’s put you in the picture. Stay tuned for more regular updates.
bcdoc
Damn. I hope he gets better soon. I am concerned about this final leg. The ticket sales have not been that strong. I have seen level 300 seats available on Groupon for the Milwaukee and Chicago shows. I went twice on the first half, and though they were great shows, I am hesitant to hitting one more if they don't change up the set list. Regardless, get better, Roger. jff
Damn, I hope Roger gets well, for his sake, but also, selfishly, for mine, as I'm traveling to Minneapolis to see them next month.
Hixter
The entire tour has been postponed. POSTPONED 2015 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR September 18, 2015THE WHO today confirmed that they are postponing all remaining dates on their “THE WHO HITS 50!” North American tour. They had initially postponed FOUR shows on doctors orders after Roger Daltrey contracted a mystery virus. Initially it was hoped that the rest of the tour might proceed, but after extensive tests the seriousness of his condition became apparent when doctors diagnosed Roger as having viral Meningitis and prescribed a period of rest. The band apologize to fans and realize that the postponement will cause an inconvenience for ticketholders. It wasn’t a decision taken lightly–THE WHO always give their fans 100% and were never going to compromise the show, but ultimately the band had no alternative but to postpone the tour.Roger was particularly disappointed as he had been especially looking forward to the Teen Cancer America benefit in Los Angeles, a charity that he and THE WHO have worked tirelessly for. Thankfully he is already getting better and said, “We are very sorry to disappoint our fans in this way. For the last four weeks, I have been in and out of the hospital and have been diagnosed with viral Meningitis. I am now on the mend and feeling a lot better but I am going to need a considerable time to recover. The doctors tell me I will make a complete recovery, but that I should not do any touring this year.”Pete Townshend added, “We are rescheduling all the shows for next Spring 2016. We apologize to all our fans who have supported us in the last 50 years. Once Roger is completely well we will come back stronger than ever and Roger and I will give you all a show to remember.”The tour dates being postponed are as follows:DATE CITY VENUEMon 9/14 San Diego, CA Valley View Casino CenterWed 9/16 Anaheim, CA Honda CenterSat 9/19 Las Vegas, NV Colosseum at Caesars PalaceMon 9/21 Los Angeles, CA STAPLES CenterThu 9/24 Portland, OR Moda CenterSun 9/27 Seattle, WA KeyArena at Seattle CenterTue 9/29 Vancouver, BC Pepsi Live at Rogers ArenaThu 10/1 Calgary, AB Scotiabank SaddledomeSat 10/3 Edmonton, AB Rexall PlaceTue 10/6 Saskatoon, SK SaskTel CentreThu 10/8 Winnipeg, MB MTS CentreSat 10/10 Minneapolis, MN Target CenterTue 10/13 Milwaukee, WI BMO Harris Bradley CenterThu 10/15 Chicago, IL United CenterSat 10/17 Detroit, MI Joe Louis ArenaMon 10/19 Toronto, ON Air Canada CentreFri 10/23 Pittsburgh, PA CONSOL Energy CenterSun 10/25 Newark, NJ Prudential CenterTue 10/27 New York, NY Madison Square GardenThu 10/29 Boston, MA TD GardenSun 11/1 Washington, DC Verizon CenterWed 11/4 Philadelphia, PA Wells Fargo CenterTue 12/1 Toronto, ON Air Canada CentreFri 12/4 Louisville, KY KFC Yum! jff
Ouch. Glad to hear Roger is on the mend. Anyone want to help me with a Plan B for October 10 in Minneapolis? We have airfare and hotels booked for that weekend.

Analogman
I'm listening to the Young Vic show (April 1971) from the Who's Next re-issue. If you have never heard it - you should check it out. I suppose you probably have - it came out over a decade ago. Anyhow - I am sometimes still amazed that I can listen to something that I recall reading about as a teenager - and never thought I would hear.
