tonight it's the supergroup Rangda along with Major Stars...psyched for this! the tour a couple of years ago missed Boston (Providence and Easthampton instead), so i am pumped up for this one...Major Stars wreaks all sorts of heavy, in-the-red psych action, whereas Rangda is better know for it's parts (Rick Bishop of Sun City Girls and solo work; Ben Chasny of Six Organs Of Admittance (and other countless projects...Comets On Fire, 200 Years, August Born, Badgerlore, Current 93, Basalt Fingers, etc); Chris Corsano, drummer extraordinaire who has worked with Bjork among others).

Last minute decision to see Cowboy Junkies tonight at the Attucks Theatre in Norfolk, a tiny, historic little venue. 7th row center, which was really lucky since I had sort of forgotten about this show till a friend reminded me yesterday.

South Church? Is that the same as the Stone Church???

One of my favorite bands (Thanks to Gravity) is from Portsmouth and I saw them at the Stone Church once (cozy venue, good beer)...

I'm not sure... it was just called "south church"

They didnt have beer I dont think.

But it was an amazing show! They let people come on stage whenever they wanted to play instruments. Got on for the last song and played bass guitar on Bird on a Wire by Leonard Cohen!

Amazing.

I'm seeing John K Samson tomorrow night !!!!!!!

It really should have been called "Warren Haynes and friends" as he pretty much dominated the show. But I loved the show either way. I though John Scofield fit in really well. They did a great Dark Star> I am the Walrus > Dark Star. Also did "She said, She said" as well earlier in the show. Amazing musicians, sounded like they had all been playing together for 20 years. Now I really wish I would have got tickets for tonight as well. Hoping someone will post the show at CO.Tapers.

On another note, there was a young lady standing next to me that had smuggled in a full quart of Jack Daniels she kept sharing with me. How the hell do you sneak a huge bottle like that in? Must have had a big winter coat or something.

Thanks for asking Calvino!

Moss....didn't see you at any of the Phil shows. I thought Scofield was really kind of a non-factor for a lot of the shows (went on Fri and Sat only). he was turned down kind of low and really seemed to keep to himself most most of the time and off to the side. Regardless, the shows were solid.
