Moss
are they still around?.. havent heard in years Yeah, I didn't realize it either. All original members except the bass player. They actually sounded amazing. Played some really good Beatles and Who covers along with all their hits. They exceeded my expectations.

worldrecordplayer
night 2 of An Evening With the Allman Brothers in Boston. Last night was a barnburner. After last November's shows at the Orpheum, I didn't think Gregg would survive to this point, let alone perform. I am still stunned by how great he was last night in juxtaposition. He didn't miss a beat and the band just tore it up. Anytime I get to see Derek and Warren on the same stage, in front of that rhythm section no less, it is something to behold. worldrecordplayer
Springsteen, Fenway Park. Not a show I want to see, but my wife wanted to go so there I'll go. I stopped seeing Springsteen several years ago after having become totally bored at his last night of a long run at the Fleet Center. After many many shows, his music stopped speaking to me. (And I don't particularly care for the crowd, but that's another story). Maybe I'll be surprised tonight (but I'm doubtful).

worldrecordplayer
How was it? If you ask anyone in Fenway other than me, you'd probably get a response along the lines of "awesome." For me, it was more of the same that I wrote about, the reasons I stopped going to see Springsteen. In a nutshell, the sound absolutely sucks in Fenway unless you are right down front, which we weren't. So not being able to hear the full band instrumentation and not being able to see the players (the video screen focused on Bruce 99.9% of the time) takes away a lot of the concert experience for me. Second, I think the songbook has been diluted over the years. After opening with Promised Land (which had me enthused that the show would exceed my expectations), they spent the next xx minutes playing what i thought was a collection of remarkably forgettable songs. Until Spirits in the Night if you're looking at a set list. I'm going to sound like an old fart, but back in the day I used to think every song at a Bruce show was a tour de force. Not now. Also back in the day, this was a guitar band. Between Nils and Bruce, there were many guitar highlights every night. Nils is a world class guitar player. Last night, there were no guitar moments until his solo in Because the Night, which was 75 minutes into the show. And then never happened again. So a 3 1/2 hour show (Bruce does still put out) with one guitar solo/guitar moment is going to leave me unsatisfied. Love the fiddle player, love the horns (when I could hear them), but I like guitars at my rock n roll shows. Lastly, even the old songs that I like no longer hold any emotional connection to me. Fine to hear them, but I'm not clapping along or pumping my fist. (I'd only like to pump my fist to the loudmouth behind me who spent the entire evening screaming "Clarence" or "The Big Man"). So, all in all, I went because my wife wanted to go, she's happy to have gone but won't be looking to go again next time, and that is a relief to me. But, as I said above, if you asked any of the 40,000 other people there, you'd get an entirely different answer.
remphish1
Is there any underlying thing that changed your opinion on Bruce? Just curious..I have some bands I think of differently based on what was going on in my life when certian songs were on etc...well thanks for the review anyways I am debating on seeing a show in Sept so there is that.
