Have fun at that. I have a friend who's been trying to convince me to go for a few days. Mostly cause he can't find any singles for a good price.

I will be seeing the Sword with Gypsyhawk and Eagle Claw tonight at the Middle East

make sure you get there early for eagle claw. not sure what the order is between them and gypsyhawk - they've been changing it up on this tour - but don't miss them! great instrumental hard rock from austin.

Since I'm generally not on the board over the weekend:

Sunday night -- Fun.

Elmhurst College.

Taking my 11 y.o. to his first concert. Glad that I like this band, too.

It was a helluiva lot of fun and an excellent first concert for my son.

As to the band's performance: tight as hell. They are excellent musicians and Nate (singer) can hit those high, high notes in full-voice, without needing to go to a falsetto. Extremely impressive and powerful as hell. A really great singer. I have even more respect for the band after seeing them play.

Who you kidding? Sunday will be like the 10th time I've seen them this year.

Imagine The Band mating with 1970 acoustic Grateful Dead and toss a little bluesgrass and folk in to the sauce......

Or consider those Mumford and Sons guys.......except that Giving Tree is like one hundred thousand times better and deserves all the attention and accolades Mumford is currently somehow receiving....

Oh yeah, I'm going, bucko

How was it?

Sweet! They did their usual acoustic set and sprinkled in some of their new tunes off the new album.

well it's a soundboard shoot, and the rental place was out of 400mm lenses, so don't expect too much.

still will be fun, but i'm not gonna be able to see more than the 3 songs of Patti's set even though I have a ticket (us camera people are herded into and out of the area like cattle).

Did they give you set times? I see that there's a third band (I never heard of), so wondering if you know what time for Patti and then Neil?
