Wilco (officially released live shows)

Really into that era at the moment, specifically 1999-2000. That really seemed like the last tour where Jeff and Jay were getting along and were having fun playing together.

The mid-September, 2000 run is one of my favorite stretches. On the heels of Mermaid Ave. 2, the setlists were great ("Feed of Man!") and the performances were off the charts.

The three-night run at the Fillmore in July is nothing short of spectacular. Those were some great setlists. Too Far Apart and I Must Be High, good rockers still representing A.M., maybe a little Casino Queen too. Love the Red Eyed and Blue > I Got You > Someone Else's Song medley, the transition of How to Fight Loneliness into Hotel Arizona, the latter of which had an awesome noisy ending with some crazy-sounding, really loud synth and keyboards. And all the Mermaid Avenue material sounded great. They need to bring back Secret of the Sea!

Thinking about this a bit, I'm now wondering if there might be some sort of issue with Jay's estate and the release of any official live recordings from pre-2004 (Kicking Television).

I wondered the same thing as well, or if it's a tricky process figuring out royalties for Ken, Max, Bob and Leroy for performing on those recordings.

I already have most of those songs from this tour. Again, keeping a thread of hope alive for some unheard or remastered older recordings...

I think it'll have to happen eventually...or in other words...I too am keeping a thread of hope alive that they start to do some archival releases...

Has anyone listened to all of these? Reviews, ratings, recommendations?

I have 2 already (#2 Geneve, and #6 Cooperstown) and wondering if there are "must haves" within this set?

Terminal 5  &  Berkeley night 2  -  both excellent nights of rock n roll

Honestly I recommend that you go by what setlist, or setlists excite you the most...I've heard almost of all of these, & saw them 10 times over the last year or so (5 of those gigs have ended up as Roadcase shows), & can say that the shows I saw & have heard were of such generally great quality that I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

I like the idea of getting all 3 of the NYC shows- as it ends up giving you 63 different songs over the course of three nights...so you get 27 songs a night...with 9 repeats & 18 that weren't played at either of the other two shows.

I agree. But...there is something particularly special about the Wolftrap show to my ears. Very high energy opening sequence of songs.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I think I'll go for the 3 nights in NY.

I've been getting the My Morning Jacket 3 night runs as well (have 2 nights so far) and like the dynamic of those shows. The Wilco approach may be more interesting in that they try and build a "show" while also recognising the need to avoid too many repeats.

Silly questios...which one is Terminal5? and which is the Wolftrap show??

Cheers again
