The Wives/girlfriends were wise or as some sing: "Man Smart (Woman Smarter)"
-
Definitely - this set was the first box set my girlfriend (now wife) bought me for Christmas when it came out back in 97 - I don't think she ever bought me a better Christmas gift. (though she did get me the Complete Miles on Columbia set for Valentine's Day a few years back.) Regarding listening to jazz around the house --- some stuff I am relegated to head phones, this includes while listening to some of the later Coltrane stuff, while the wife is milling about. So far my kids can put up with anything, but I am waiting for the day when they don't want to listen to Peter Brotzmann blaring

My library has the European Tour set and I check it out quite a bit - good stuff, indeed. The sounds is okay, as you say, not the best - but I believe it's the source tapes that are the issue - so if it's all that they have to play with from a mastering point - it's fine by be. Glad it the material is released. The sound on the One Down, One up isn't the best, either.

Just brought my copy to work today to give it a listen, again. Just finished up the below. (I am alone in the office on Tuesdays and Fridays, so it usually "free" jazz days.)

Normally I don't get impatient about these things - but when the hell are the going to announce the next Dave's pick??? Also, my favorite post Brent show that I saw was 6/22/91 in Chicago --- my friend taped 6/28/92 show - it definitely stood out when I listened to it a few days later.

Mojo (or his engineer) needs to pay attention to his levels while he is talking on XM. -
Caught them a Lallopalooza in 2007 - fun show, I was towards the back of the crowd when Iggy invited everyone on stage, so I didn't make it up there. Don't have any Stooges in my collection.

Never saw that, either -- is it even available on DVD, I didn't see it anywhere after a quick search.
-
Yes it is and thanks for doing it.

My neighbor loaned his Duane Allman box set this past weekend and I have been going through it this week - very good stuff - I didn't get it, because I thought I had most of the stuff on various releases, but I was mistaken - I probably have about half of it in other releases. Also, just watched the Muscle Shoals documentary last night - the Duane Allman set compliments the doc, nicely, and vice verse. Great documentary. It was nice to hear Rick Hall say that he blew it when he didn't sign ABB - or missed the boat...

Listening to 3/18/67 --- Garcia plays great throughout, esp during "The Same Thing". https://archive.org/details/gd67-03-18.sbd.fink.10282.sbeok.shnf

Very nice, indeed.

Saturday - cleaning the house. Sunday - hosting a St. Patrick's feast - bunch of family, friends, and old neighbors. Corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, cheese cake, drink, etc. Monday - cracking all the windows open to air out the house.

Exactly.

Charlie Miller did a transfer - it doesn't sound too bad. https://archive.org/details/gd1988-07-02.sbd.miller.86817.sbeok.flac The Little Feat opening set is on the Archive, too. (haven't listened to it, yet) https://archive.org/details/lf1988-07-02.aud.flac16

Listened to that, too - today - It's a good one.

I don't have any studio-only boots from Zeppelin - so it will be all new to me.

I just listened to that 1973 Southampton show this past weekend. Looking forward to these sets --- I have to check to see if I have the 69 show at home.

Steven Wright did some stand up between sets at a Dylan and Phil Lesh show on 10/31/99 - that was fun and unsuspected. -
Your Favorite Big Shows and Favorite Small Shows
calvino replied to IRememberDBoon's topic in Someone Else's Song
A few of smaller shows that spring to mind was seeing Dylan a couple of times at the Metro and couple of times at the Park West. Tweedy at Lounge Ax a few times was nice, too. Favorite larger shows: Dead at Soldier Field, 1991, also the Lollapalooza's I have been to in the past have been pretty damn good - notably seeing LCD Soundsystem play Daft Punk in my House during their set, then have Daft Punk play directly after them in the same field was pretty cool, also NIN put on a hell of show five or so years ago, Wilco's first appearance was more memorable than their 2nd, seeing Patti Smith si -
Great Ratdog show last Friday in Chicago - probably the best Dead related show I saw. It's rather amazing how Weir sounded, esp. at his age. They played Terrapin during the 2nd set and for the encore pulled off a great At a Siding > Terrapin Flyer. Jeff C had the "orchestration" part down pat on his keyboards. Even the Red Rooster (as Night of Joy predicted) was sort of exciting. The bass bomb intro into The Other One, played by Sylvester - also sounded great. Once I picked up Wasserman in the mix - his contributions were cool to hear - mostly played a bow on his up right bass. The on

If everything goes just exactly perfect - Ratdog.

You are sure pushing libraries today, A-Man. I have it on request from my library system - it's in transit. I read the Skydog book - it's the only Allman Brother book that I read.
