  1. Huge series at Target Field, Cryp.
  2. Very sad. An obit in the Des Moines Register this AM as he was an Iowa native.
  3. 1952 Vincent Black Lightning - Richard Thompson. Quite possibly my favorite song.
  4. Apparently, movie productions have started and stopped on this for years. It could be an easy book to ruin on stage or screen. It could also be potentially brilliant. Maybe in the hands of Wes Anderson or another respectful director.
  5. Aaron Sorkin is brilliant. Rob Lowe grabbing the crab puff at the end. What a beautiful use of comic relief.
  6. Ben Folds wrote songs for each of his twins. Still Fighting It is on Rockin' the Suburbs. Gracie, probably not appropriate unless it's for a girl who shares that name, is on Songs For Silverman. Still Fighting It is kind of sad, but awfully good.
  7. That led to my discovery of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWQgktBR6-w
  8. I'm sure Carrie Fisher's addiction was, at least on some level, he way of coping with having participated in that.
  9. couldn't be a more appropriate title for des moines. we've been nailed with 6+" of rain the last 2 nights with more to come tonight.
  10. I assume it's the Eddie, Alex, David, Wolfgang lineup?
  11. My wife and I LOVE the scenes from next week. Absolutely NOTHING is given away. They may as well show scenes from Underdog or Bewitched.
  12. Steven Page did leave. They still put on a helluva show. Saw the a couple of weeks ago in Des Moines. Not one of my favorite bands, but great entertainers.
  13. I was hoping John Randle would've worn his pro wrestler style eye makeup. And tackled someone on the dais.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WN9CccrFXBI
  15. Buddy Holly was a huge innovator, great songwriter, and performer. He may not have even hit his stride. I certainly do not wish death on Jennings, but would love to hear what Holly had in him. Clapton or Vaughn? SRV's last album w/ his brother was disappointing. Does that mean he was through? No way, but even though Clapton has put out a lot of claptrap since SRV's death, he's also had some great moments, esp. the album w/ JJ Cale. I'd probably be in the minority by saying keep Clapton.
  16. I have been fooled by the opening of the live version of Monday into thinking they were going to go into Rock and Roll All Night.
  17. When YLT played Des Moines, the pulled an audience member out to play drums while Georgia sang. Seemed gimmicky for a band of Yo La Tengo's stature, but it worked.
  18. One of my favorite LPs is Perfectly Good Guitar. Love the song on there he originally wrote for Iggy Pop, Something Wild http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5insc6shv-8&feature=related
