  1. those are good words. well said.
  2. did you all see this? via their facebook page: "We will announce on sale dates for the North American tour next Wednesday, July 6 at approx. 2pm edt. Note that this is the announcement of the on sale dates. Not the actual on sale date."
  3. i had never heard of these guys. i saw this thread had reached four pages, so i decided to check out their new one, and it's damn good! very solid, very jackson brown-esque (not a bad thing). very good summertime music as well. thanks for sharing.
  4. man...based on how many of you are singing the praises of the decemberists' as a top 5 entry, i may have to give it more time. i got it the week it was out on cd and listened to it several times over the course of the next few days on my commute and it really didn't strike me as memorable, so it's now in the cardboard case in my cd collection at home, gathering dust. guess i'll get it back out.
  5. hey, thanks for the advice on where to start, and for the offer of giving me the mix of tracks. i prefer to start with albums, and based on your (pl.) rec's, i've elected to go with since which i just snagged a copy of. just now getting some time to explore some new music, so i can't wait to digest this guy's stuff.
  6. update: just got the time to listen to this album like this, and i'll admit that it's pretty good. i've also been working on z. i wouldn't call myself a fan just yet, but i def like both these albums. i have not listened to the new one as of yet. i want to get there first.
  7. damn...can't find shite about when on-sale begins for the two-night ryman stint...but, by hook or by crook, i'll be there both nights!! that's unmissable.
  8. nice. this belongs on mine as well. glad to see this mentioned.
  9. that's not outside the realm of likelihood, actually.
  10. i told myself i wouldnt cheat and listen to anything off the new album until i had the actual lp in my hands, but damn if as soon as i saw the link, i clicked and listened...glad i did! i like this track and am interested in how it fits into the context of the album.
  11. i agree. somehow...it works.
  12. couldn't disagree more. it took me until today to finally like the new Bon Iver after getting it and listening to it first on tues (and many, many, many times after) whereas the fleet foxes was more immediate for me (if we are to continue, for some reason, comparing these two bands). where is the basis of this comparison? they are two indie bands with new lps out this year, but that is where the comparisons, in my mind, stop, so I don't get why some here are saying this album is better than that album or vice versa. but whatever. I'm leaving it as "I like the new album" (of both well-r
  13. cool cover. they should print that up on t's for the upcoming tour backing the new lp.
  14. i really dig side c which is the cascades into lorelei into someone you'd admire. but then again, side a's pretty damn great too: montezuma into bedouin dress into sim sala bim. shit. just listen to it all. i don't get what you said...much less what you think i thought when you thought i was thinking what i thought.
  15. oh hell no...you did NOT just go there... kidding. this actually made me laugh.
  16. has tweedy turned out all bono? lord no.
  17. totally the same as my experience in nashville.
  18. i just listened to it. i'm thinking that it will make more sense within the context of the album...just like much of for emma couldn't be taken out of context of that album.
  19. saw these guys friday night at the ryman in nashville and...man! these boys can play, and robin's voice is ever-so crisp live. honestly, based on what i had read here, i wasnt expecting a spectacular show, but i have to report that this past friday's show stands firmly in my top three live shows. get out and check these dudes out live.
  20. how have i never heard of this guy?? quick, tell me which album to start with...
  21. Like has been said, not quite sure how anyone could call this album terrible. But whatever. This is good. I'd hate to not "get" this album.
  22. i've seen wilco a dozen times. never once have I watched seated. i have seen tweedy solo a couple times and was seated. the only "rock" show i've stayed seated for was elvis costello. elvis and wilco have a similar demographic following them (meaning going to shows), right? and, comparing the two, wilco def "rocks out." someone mentioned muzzle of bees not being a very inspiring song. couldn't disagree more...that song would get me up on my feet. true, i am not new to the band but still, I think that would get folk up.
