  1. sounds good to me. can't wait to catch him live again. it's been a while.
  2. we have some rattlers here in the smokies...i've run into several on hikes. one was as thick as my leg. pretty spooky. a couple weeks ago, i was on a bike ride on the roads in the park and traffic was stopped. it happens a lot around here, what with folk stopping to see deer and bears and such, but this time, a guy had swerved to run over with the intent to kill a rattler. it was at the side of the road, dying slowly as the killer kinda stood around saying how that snake doesn't have a place on this earth. his ignorance was prominently on display. anyway, i was riding with a retired park ran

  6. i'm enjoying this lil gem...can't get cruel and cheerleader outta my head.
  7. forgot about this, but i was looking forward to it. thanks for the update!
  8. my wife and i + another couple will be there for both show. nashville is a great little place. pretty much everything you'd need is within walking distance of the ryman, plus there are some cool places you can drive to. two of those places are crema coffee up on rutledge hill and yazoo brewery over on division. visiting the yazoo brewery is a must. the room is open till 8 sat night (fill you up a growler to go for after the show); of course you could also tour. there are some neat bars/dives to duck into as well...i could list several, but part of the fun is finding a little place for yo
  9. i don't think he'd pull those out. those are just for he and john, in the night times.
  10. yeah, interesting thread. don't know what it says about me, but i usually just default to arial when creating docs/notes/schedules for my students. in my email, my font is tahoma. back in the day, i was a times new roman man, but i got bored with it. there was a time, since i work with younglings, that i used comic sans, but then everybody started using it in my building, so i discontinued. what a trendsetter i am...
  11. bon iver on npr's world cafe is a good listen, especially for the stripped version beth/rest. check it, yo. http://www.npr.org/2011/09/02/140128595/bon-iver-on-world-cafe
  12. yes, that is a nice (read: positive) review. funny you posted a review...just last night, i was thinking/wondering about what pitchfork is going to say about this album. not that it matters: i don't need a "critic" to tell me what to think about a [great] album. just curious.
  13. it's right up there, for me, with IATTBYH and ALTWYS. can't decide which order though. either way (ha)...awesome track; great opener.
  14. fucking fabulous. great record.
  15. we are a small independent k-12 day school in knoxville: webb. enrollment around 1100 in the entire school. lovely little place.
  16. this summer, while not teaching, i rode 1500 miles on my bike (my annual goal is 2011 this year). took some kids on a ten day tour through europe: germany, austria, liechtenstein, northern italy (the lakes!), and switzerland. celebrated my 10th anniversary with my wife on a wonderful weekend trip to charleston, sc where we ate our way through town (great culinary tour). prepared myself to begin a year at school where we have adopted a one-to-one ipad initiative in grades 4-12. kinda exciting...kinda scary. after one week in, it feels like i've been back a month. all in all: greatest s

    Almost

can't wait to see them at the two-night ryman stint the week after this comes out...
  18. On vinyl, always. CD, listen to the three minutes of a great song then skip. iPod, never. I edited the file so that it fades out after the "song" ends.
  19. i went ahead with the deluxe cd. seems to be the most bang for the least shipping buck. i'll grab the vinyl at my local indie. anybody catch the instructions on the delivery of the bike? not too shabby. have it delivered to a near show, photo opp....then sell it to a hipster.

    Pieholden

i saw tweedy solo at the bijou here in knoxville in '07, and he played pieholden. pretty awesome. i also saw it with the rest of the band at the ryman about a year later. great song.
  21. here, here! it's been a memorable tour, to say the least.
