  1. i'll give them props for that (even though their path to 4-0 was through the cowboys who imploded frustratingly yesterday apparently...blowing a 24 point lead in the 3rd??).
  2. forgot to mention...i ran into pat at crema coffee sunday morning. he and "the mustachioed one" pulled up in a cab. i told him that i enjoyed the show last night, looking forward to tonight's (sunday's at that point), and he responded with a thumbs up. i didn't pester them past that...although it would have been cool to have him sign my copy of the whole love i had sitting in the car.
  3. totally my feelings as well. plus...i had never seen less than you think live in all my live shows (and to open, no less...) great show.
  4. fairly sure that they opened with osm on night 2 in ATL. i am hoping that i can grab a print tonight as well...missed out last night. poor places was a surprise!
  5. technically loose fur, no? but still very, very cool. i miss that show btw. i've no clue why it was canceled. i think the answer has to to do with the execs, their ass and a hole in the ground.
  6. good stuff! seeing them again in one week and can't wait. they are a must-see.
  7. i was looking for the "wilco heard when you're out and about" thread to post this to, but it looks like i've been beaten to the punch. agree, 110%, that this is a great show. i love it. great music selection for the soundtrack as well. solitaire was indeed on there once, maybe last season. pretty sure i could be buddies with the soundtrack dude/dudette from this show.
  8. damn this thing sounds great on vinyl...just got my vinyl copy tonight. blasting it on the technics!
  9. hey, there's a beer festival at the riverfront tomorrow from 1-6. i'm hitting that up pre-show. the wifey and i are leaving knoxville-town around noon saturday. http://www.nashvillebeerfestival.com/ i'll be around for the sunday show as well. look for a short dude with nine fingers...chances are, that'll be me. super excited for this weekend's ryman shows! the weather will be perfectly fall-ish too!
  10. i love the album version of this. doesn't glenn play the hammer dulcimer? my end-around is that i've tweaked the digital file to cut off at around 3:02. if on vinyl, i'll just let it spin. cd? prolly skip after the song proper. never heard it live, but i've heard it on a boot.
  11. i did...but it's been quite the while. i don't remember them being clunky lyrically.
  12. and don't forget to mention: post a coupla times as well!
  13. totally agree...i've no clue why folk line up to hate on romo. he's a good (if not great) qb; just look at his stats and they speak for themselves. also: i've no clue why anyone would say kitna is better.
  14. doesn't everybody get tired of reading the same shit about "the dra" (how he was supposed to die, drugs, drugs, more drugs, etc.) and tweedy/wilco (rose from the ashes of ut, record label dropped them, etc.)...it just seems that the journalists dredge up the same stuff with each successive record release as article material. sorta unoriginal is all i'm saying. and...i can't wait to preview this later. sorry to hear it ain't doin it for you, a-man. i also prefer love is hell over gold and heartbreaker, but like all three of them very much (would prefer to have gold less "polished" however
  15. the past two seasons have had their moments. this season's opener was sorta unfunny. no! it was pretty bad, in fact.
  16. agreed: clunky. can't/won't agree with "smokes." i have tried to like this thing because i like their other stuff. there are couple tracks that are good. i like pouring rain at dawn, but other than that, it's mostly forgettable. other than that it's mostly forgettable. other than that, it's mostly forgettable. other than that, it's mostly forgettable. sorry...i've been listening to this album trying to talk myself into liking it, and the repetitive choruses must have worn off on me. they must have worn off on me. they must have worn off on me. off on me.
  17. i enjoyed reading your exposition, crow. i also agree that everyone does shine on this one. to the experienced ear, you can hear each band member's fingerprints on each track. more so, i think, than on any other album. i dig that. this, the whole love, is most definitely the product of the band.
  18. you're spot on. good stuff. saw these fellers live last night. there were several empty seats...even on row g at a smal venue (where we were). that should not be the case...hugely talented.
  19. after one listen...i'm not there yet. i really like rainy day, and i don't find this one as engaging (for me). it was actually kinda flat the first time through. nothing really jumped out at me. i will spin it some more.
  20. love hearing that! besides wilco, they are the band who i've seen the most of, and i'd travel hours to see (and have and will again. and again.). saw this combo last night. spectacular! i was going to see dawes, but stuck around for the m. ward set b/c dawes was gonna play back up with him after his acoustic set (i'm sure the same happened at your show)...but dang! speaking of engaging: m. ward! what a virtuoso on the guitar and piano and vocals to boot! now, i want some of his music. i had never heard any of it. he opened with an interesting cover of david bowie's let's dance that took a f
  21. same for me. nice little treat and i'm enjoying the four extra tracks on cd2.
