That explains why it's quite a bit different than your typical Wilco stuff. I need to check out more Chris+Mike stuff now.

I just love Jeffs guitar solo in it.. It makes absolutely no sense.. He isn't using scales or any kind of structure whatsoever, and that's what I love about it..
-
REALLY dig this tune. I love how the strummed guitars kick in halfway through each verse. So does anyone know more about this tune? If it was recorded in 03, I assume this was around the AGIB days?

Pixies' Doolittle 20th anniversary tour
lamradio replied to Three dollars and 63 cents's topic in Someone Else's Song
Not one Southern date? Well, I'm glad I got to see them on their first reunion tour. Great show. -
I've always liked it too. Not one of my favs, but it's just so happy and poppy, how can you not like it? Maybe because; someone once said it sounds a little like a commercial theme song.. Like a chewing gum commercial or something..

Good point.. and Dr. Dog always catches hell for sounding too much like the Beatles.. But it's not just the Beatles, it's the whole Psychedelic sound from the 70's that they re-produce so well. They take what's already been done, and make it their own... And they're definitely not the first band to do that..

Are you talking about the one on the corner of.... I think it was Newbury and Massachusetts Avenue? If so, man that's a pretty small building to have a Best Buy in.
-
I also used to go to Tower Records a lot because it was right down the street from my apartment (the one near Fenway).. But it of course went belly up.. And that doesn't help you, but I was just reminiscing..

I miss Boston.. I used to pass Newbury Comics every day on my way to/from school. It was a little farther walk for me to use Newberry Street, but there was always something interesting to see.

I just picture Jeff Tweedy as one of those Futurama Heads in a Jar.. He'll still be rockin out in the year 3,000.

Ah ha! That's why I couldn't find another thread (believe me I looked). Thanks Wendy!
-
Still need to verify this 100%, but I think it's working now like it used to. Woo hoo! Thanks solace.
-
I've never seen them use a Digaradoo, but I wouldn't be surprised.. They have all kinds of random instruments/sounds on their records (I think I heard glass bottles in one song)..
-
Just wanted to start a thread about Dr. Dog. Any fans? What's your favorite record? I'm pretty much hooked on them right now. Yes, "Fate" is a great record but I think it's my least favorite. I've been listening to "Easy Beat" all weekend and I think it's their best.. Holy crap the song "Easy Beat" is amazing... Going to see them in Asheville in September.. Can't wait.. Anyone else seen them live?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Patty Dunsone God that's scary..

Is the board not as active as it once was?
lamradio replied to Tweedling's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I know it sounds crazy, but ever since the "view new content" (formerly known as "view new posts" from the old board) stopped working right, I don't come here very often.. It's just too much of a pain to find new posts going through each category.. I know, I'm lazy and stubborn... But that's why I'm not as active on the board, and maybe other folks are like me.. -
So is there a big difference listening to the LP version? I'm trying to justify forking out the cash to buy a record player..
-
I know this has nothing to do with the master, but the first thing I noticed about the CD version is how loud the vocals are. They are way too upfront in the mix.
-
This is one of those times when I wish Jeff would sneak in this thread and just tell us the name of that damn amp..
-
Any early predictions on what song they will play?
-
I'm sure I could put those to good use.. Especially that modded RAT.

Favorite and least favorite Wilco songs by album
lamradio replied to yankhotelfox's topic in Just A Fan
It's time to resurrect a very old thread. It's an oldie, but a goodie. AM: Passenger Side / Should've Been in Love BT: Someone Else's Song / (Was I) In Your Dreams ST: She's A Jar / We're Just Friends (this was a toughie.. I love every song) YHF: Kamera / Heavy Metal Drummer AGIB: Humming Bird / Wishful Thinking (this was a toughie.. I love every song) SBS: Please Be Patient With Me / Leave Me (Like you found me) WTA: One Wing / Sunny Feeling MA1: At My Window Sad and Lonely / I Guess I Planted MA2: Airline To Heaven / Aginst Th' Law -
It's never just a Bassman, or a Deville, or a Hotrod.. It's always some fancy, rare, vintage, absurdly expensive amp.
