Can't wait for that Jason Isbell to come out (2/17 I think?). That is a great album cover, I wonder if it will be released on vinyl!

Loved the movie also. You have to at least admire a man who follows his obsessions to that extreme.

This might be better suited for the Best lyrics thread but: Jolene - Ray LaMontagne I found myself face down in a ditch with Booze in my hair Blood on my lips -
Not much on there yet but it's coming: http://www.myspace.com/circlethedrainrocks

Just watched "Wanted" which was more entertaining than I thought it would be. Kind of had elements of "Fight Club". Good in a purely entertaining, comic book type of way.

I also agree with the exception that I would put The Dirty South in the first tier. Probably because that's the one I started with and it has stuck with me. How do you not like a song suite about Buford Pusser? Plus I was obsessed with the song "Danko/Manuel" for a long time.

Not that it took a genius or anything but I called that one.

I think I'm going to sit this tour out. Saw them a few years ago and it is the only concert I have ever left before it was over. When they are playing they sound fantastic, I can even handle the inane 20 minutes of noodling and chatter between every single song, what made me leave was standing and watching them get feedback sounds out of their amps for 20 minutes. This was no Sonic Youth creative dissonance. This was people farting around onstage making noise with no end in sight. I got so bored I was just done.

I don't even disagree, it's really a tough issue. Baseball is a game that has such history and reams of statistics but it's tough to compare modern players to the past. But then again, nutrition, weight training, etc... have all come such a long way that statistics are going to change as well. The nice thing is that as batters get better, so do pitchers. I think you are right, there has always been cheating and everybody disagrees at what point you cross a line.

You never cease to amaze me Analog. You seem to find everything.

Call me what you will, but I'm making a new record

Wow, that worked really well. -
I really should avoid weighing in on this as I am not even remotely eloquent but what the hell. To me there is a huge difference between steroids and spit balls or scuffing. I kind of like the pitchers doing the old vaseline on the hat or nail file in the pocket thing. It's a technique to get a little more spin, make the ball break a little more, whatever. If they get caught there is consequences. Yes it's cheating but it's to such a minor degree. It's like Manu Ginobili in Basketball always flopping. Annoying yes, unless your a Spurs fan, then it's art. He's trying to give the team tha

I can't keep up with all the people being thrown out here. Animal collective, Andrew Bird, M. Ward, Rocky Votolato. Makes me want to go back to my Physical Graffiti album and say screw it. Actually I love hearing about these bands so thank you.

I do love Furr but have not checked out the rest of the album. I absolutely love that song so it's depressing to hear the rest of them don't hold up. Sniff, sniff, sniff... I smell Patchouli.

Damn you got good taste Cortez. Every time you throw an album out I'm like "Oh yeah, forgot about that one" and proceed to listen to it. Your like my personal DJ!

Can't believe no Colorado shows. One of my favorite memories was Robert handing me a bud out of the band cooler during the encore of the GBV show. Have not checked out the new one but plan on it. Did not know about boston Spaceships until I read this.

Finally shaved my mullet yesterday.

Yeah, I think they have proven themselves enough over time to get to fake one.

That's awesome. I can only hope for the same for one or both of my daughters. Congrats, Neuroscience is up there with rocket science or something.

The Alfred Hitchcock books were huge in my time. Jupiter Jones, Pete Crenshaw, Bob Andrews. I still have not figured out how to post a damn picture.

That was my main concern about it. I can't stand an out of tune guitar so that would drive me nuts. Cheap guitars are just tough to deal with. Not only staying in tune but the intonation is usually so bad. Still tempted though, $60 dollars is cheap! I have a G&L Rampage with the Kahler locking tremolo and can't keep it in tune. I think I need a mechanical engineer degree to figure out how to set it up.

Anybody want to buy some guitars cheap? I quit.
