  1. i often thought that Peter Jefferies solo work echoed _Fear_ quite a bit.
  2. i didn't take that many, as the light (fluorescent store lighting) was pretty bad, but i'll work on some tonight. i am kicking myself that i didn't get a shot w/ Kurt and the life-sized cardboard Bieber cut-out.
  3. damn, didn't realize tickets already went on sale for Neil.
  4. think about the amazing debut LPs that Cale produced (P Smith, Stooges, Modern Lovers).
  5. Damn, Todd...that's mighty high praise. but, i will let you know that i'm just a bottom feeder (see quote most of the way down... )
  6. Glenn Jones uses a partial capo on some songs, sometimes leaving the top two strings unaffected. i saw Kurt Vile play acoustic last week and he definitely used open tuning, and to a very good degree.
  7. Motorhead + Clutch last week This would be my second time seeing the band, and I thought the 1st time was a bit better, but still one can't argue the greatness of Motörhead, can they? Though, i could go for a bit different set list...seemed like a lot of the same stuff they played last tour. and Clutch was definitely a half-trick pony...i swear every guitar solo was the exact same thing. here's a teaser, and more shots of the band can be seen here: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/motorhead-clutch-house-of-blues-boston-pics/
  8. pretty much the same as before reading this thread.
  9. what was defective about them? first i've heard of it.
  10. add Vince Welnick to the list too (saw him w/ the Tubes and the Dead)
  11. yeah, i forgot about Mark Sandman (saw him in Candybar, a pre-Morphine band), Strummer and Chilton. Also forgot that Billy Powell and Leon Wilkeson both played in the Rossington-Collins band. oh, and Frank Zappa.
  12. well, i guess this could be a bit of a morbid spin on the other thread...anyways, here's who I remember off the top of my head (and the band I saw 'em play with): John Fahey Jack Rose John Entwhistle Huey Thomasson (Outlaws) Albert Collins (Rossington-Collins band) Chris Acland (Lush) Jim Shepard (V-3) Gary Shider (P-Funk) Ben Keith (Neil Young) Lady Jaye (Psychic TV3) Peter Christopherson (Threshold Houseboys Choir; Throbbing Gristle) Grant McClellan (Go-Betweens) RJ Dio (Heaven and Hell) Karl Mueller (Soul Asylum) Malachi Favors (AEOC) Vic Chesnutt Pete de Freitas (Echo/Bunnymen) Mary Hans
  13. much to my disappointment. if i could have hand-picked five Matador bands to have played, it would have looked like: GBV TFUL282 Come Bailter Space Barbara Manning not to say I didn't have a great time, but it could have been greater.
  14. oh man, TFUL282 is one of my all-time favorites.,,saw them 5 or 6 times and am considering somehow getting over to the ATP in England where they are reforming for a show.
  15. i wonder what Rey Washam is up to. i've seen Shellac a few times now, but missed out prior.
  16. I saw one of the last Om shows w/ Chris on drums. also happy to have caught a very rare live show of Crystalized Movements back in the early 90s.
  17. that's the 1st camera i got. if it's got fairly low shutter actuations, i would think it's worth $150-200 or so. it's a good starter camera but i wouldn't pay more since it's 3-4 generations old now.
  18. If you don't think you'll need video capability, and don't mind taking on a slight risk of buying used (and i've bought used lenses and a used body), then you could look at something like this: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1008090&highlight=40D
  19. my first camera was a rebel XT, about 2-3 generations removed. that took good photos, but i wanted a bit more flexibility so i upgraded. bodies can come and go, spend decent $ on good lenses and they will last. check out dpreview.com or fredmiranda.com for reviews, or google POTN (it's a Canon user site) and dig around in there.
  20. now i know you are just randomly grabbing Youtube links...this song sucked back in the day and it still sucks.
