I often flip back and forth on which solo album I like most -- Full Moon Fever or Wildflowers. There's just something about the warmth of Wildflowers (probably R. Rubin's contribution) that sways me. I know Petty has said some disparaging things about She's the One, which contains cuts from the Wildflowers sessions, but Petty's output from like 1994-99 (Wildflowers, She's the One, and Echo) is, IMHO, among his best. FWIW, I saw Mudcrutch a few days ago, and while he's looking pretty old, and didn't move all that much on the stage, his voice sounded great.

Looks like you can buy a single day pass for "pay what you want." After creating an account it seems that the minimum is $9.99.

Got very lucky for both Seattle shows. Just set some airfare alerts. Oof.

They did it both nights when they were in Boston in January...

Thoughts on whether or not the PNW and West Coast shows will be "standard" Star Wars shows with the band opening the show by playing the album in its entirety?

I'm currently at O'Hare waiting to fly back to Boston after a great visit to Chicago and two memorable shows. We were lucky enough to be numbers 28 & 29 on Friday which was a total thrill. Jeff honored my first pick (No More Poetry) and my girlfriend's backup (Radio King; her first pick was You're Not Alone which ended up getting played the following evening). On night two we were a few people short, though we did get our question answered (What is Jeff's most memorable concert going experience). There's not much that I can contribute that hasn't been said above. All I can say is that t

Ha, thanks! I googled before I made my post, and my search led me to that thread. Not much useful info there - the VC crowd is a knowledgable bunch, thought I'd ask here first.

The new deluxe Heartbreaker LP box set is a thing of beauty. I had no idea that Pat played on some of these songs! Anyone know more about Pat's history with DRA?

This record release is the antithesis of Wilco's Star Wars release. Could Radiohead be more self indulgent? Oh, and the songs are fine. I thought Daydreaming was pretty boring and Burn the Witch was kinda catchy.

Awesome - thanks for the information. Hoping to make it early enough on one of the days to be in the top 30. Can't wait! -
Vic Tweedy benefit shows announced for May 13 and 14

It's finally May, so I'm allowed to start getting crazy excited for these shows! I'm curious if any benefit show vets can shed some light on how early a line starts forming. In particular, how early must one be to be a song requester? We have VIP tickets, so I'm not terribly concerned about having a good view, but the opportunity to ask a question/ request a song would be cool. -
Copenhagen Beer Fest is coming to Boston in September! http://copenhagenbeerfest.com Early bird tickets are pretty affordable, starting around $40. Some cool bands playing, including Yo La Tengo, and lots of great breweries.

I'd be stoked if Wilco opened every one of their shows with Wilco (the song).

in for 2 in boston! i wasn't crazy about the first mudcrutch album, but a chance to see petty (and mike, and benmont) in such a small venue will be a real treat.

I wasn't crazy about most of their beers. I thought that their Rye IPA was good, but Barista (coffee porter) was definitely the standout IMHO. They're not the star of VT craft beer, but they're certainly the not worst player in the game. FWIW, I really like their aesthetic.

I had an awesome weekend up in VT. We drove from Boston to Hill Farmstead (Greensboro, VT), and then over to Burlington. We were able to visit Burlington Beer Company and Fiddlehead, too. Had plenty to drink around Burlington, and am back home now rearranging the refrigerator to accommodate all of these cans and growlers! We got a few cases of bottles, but I'm most excited for E., which is Edward (pale ale) fermented with brettanomyces, dry hopped with galaxy, and aged on stainless for four months.

Hope I didn't come off as curt in my previous response! Craft beer is big business in New England and in VT especially. Alchemist quit selling directly due to the insane traffic at their old brewery. There's a website (headyspotter.com) dedicated to tracking down cans, and stores that get some sell out quickly. Their new brewery, due to open this summer will sell cases to consumers.
