Good info...we need 3 so I'll probably grab some lawn seats and just enjoy the party. Never thought I'd see the day where I paid the same amount for a Wilco ticket that I did a Pearl Jam ticket....thanks
-
So a face value, 14th row Pearl Jam ticket fell in to my lap this week and now the Wilco show is a no brainer. The term "listening lawn" I'm seeing online is concerning me. There really aren't "great" seats available anymore that I'm seeing and lawn seats are in the $60s. Are there 2 lawns? Can you see the stage from the lawn? How are the seats in the 200 sections?

How would you describe Wilco to someone?
sonicshoulder replied to WilcoTheologian's topic in Just A Fan
I've almost quit trying to explain Wilco musically to people. I used to burn people copies of Kicking Television if I wanted to "convert" them but I think people get scared on about the 27th "nothing" of Misunderstood. Nowadays I will hand someone a copy of Sky Blue Sky and in my opinion if that doesn't grab you Wilco probably isn't your thing. Then again you could always just say they are "the American Radiohead" which we've discussed liberally here about how ignorant that comparison is. -

"properly wank" I thought was something you strive for in your teenage years...In American they are calling Jeff a "correct jack-off". He should be honored. -
Which bands/artist have best B-sides and Non-Album Tracks
sonicshoulder replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
This is where I was going to go. The Mellon Collie B-Sides were another 3 full albums worth of good material. I had some great Pumpkins bootlegs back in the day. Billy's at home demos near the top of the list. -

The list of Republicans that have decided not to endorse Trump, which is an absolute endorsement for Clinton, should be proof enough that the man just can't be trusted with the fate of the world. George Will being on the top of that list. -
I really "like" Star Wars...I really "love" most Wilco albums...actually all of them except Star Wars and possibly Whole Love(although I may love that album too). I think WTA is aging really well and live the WTA songs all shine which tells me they are really, really good songs. Locator sounds like a Star Wars B-side to me, If I Ever Was A Child has me really excited and sounds more like the Wilco material I gravitate towards personally. We've had this discussion before around here. Bands are damned if they do and damned if they don't change. I am just grateful my favorite band is putting out

Born in 80 mine would be the Challenger as well. Strange how things work though with memory. My first memory period was getting stung as a 2 or 3 year old after getting into a yellow-jacket nest somehow. We lived in a rural farm town in KY and I vividly remember my mom and a neighbor lady covering me in some sort of baking soda paste and laying me naked on the floor in front of a box fan. My first news stories besides the Challenger were all murderer and child molester related. My mom was a single parent of 3 and would use the tactic of scaring the shit out of us to keep us on our toes as she

Can anyone attest to the sound quality of the Winterlude shows in the Roadcase? Not that I need more WIlco shows but I eyeball this every couple of months...love to have all those shows but quite honestly a couple of the Roadcase shows aren't much better sounding than your basic bootleg rip. Just curious if someone could rate the sound quality to the other Roadcase shows they might have. Don't mean to sound particular but $60 is a bit of an investment for a download...just want to make sure it sounds good. For instance the Rochester show is far and above a better recording than the other Road

Ticketmaster will make millions off this. People dragging unwilling people who have to buy tickets to horrible shows cause they have a free ticket. I mean don't get me wrong, Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine is a tough ticket...as is Buckcherry and all the Bon Jovi tribute bands I see on the list. Living across from Cincinnati right now I am contemplating between Ratt and Stone Temple Pilots featuring a guy named Mick Blankenship. decisions decisions.... Fingers crossed for Pearl Jam at Wrigley GA ticket to pop up there.

No Code and Yield to be reissued on vinyl. Good news for people like me who have always wanted No Code in their collection....bad news for the guys on Ebay who have been trying to sell original pressings for $350 the last 10 years.

So you're not helping me move?

The show I mentioned was on the LeNoise Tour. He played the same set in the same order as the last 4 or 5 shows and he was solo. Played the whole show on "Old Black" which should have made it awesome in itself but the show just never climaxed then it was over and we all know that feeling. It was an ok show, its just hard to feel engaged when a guy plays 2 hours without saying a word. Bert Jansch opened up who also doesn't speak but was excellent to watch. It was a $100 balcony seat too.

Politics 2016 (election edition)

So where does Cruz go from here...back to Zodiac killing? Is Trump's life in danger? Should he avoid book depositories when in convertibles? These are the questions facing the Trump campaign now, Hillary should be the least of his worries. Although apparently the Clintons have left a trail of corpses since their Arkansas days. I believe at one time an "associate" was found beheaded in a dumpster in some back alley in Little Rock and it was deemed natural causes. -
I saw Dylan on the Americana tour, be it from far away in a large venue lawn, and if it wasn't for the guilt being a music lover I would have walked out. The lyrics were unintelligible. I also saw Neil a few years ago and he was straight mailing it in. Same setlist as last show, zero banter or even crowd acknowledgement whatsoever. I'd say these shows will have a different vibe and the guys will step up their games in the presence of each other. The prospect of an all 6 encore might justify the expense.

Suggestions to replace a dying 160gb iPod Classic?
sonicshoulder replied to Magnetized's topic in Someone Else's Song
I felt like I had lost a family member the day my last classic died. I ended up going with the 128 touch and I'm pretty used to it by now but it took a while. I don't use my touch for anything except music so I can't speak for the other features but its an iPhone that doesn't call or ring. The one reason I am now glad I switched though is I have a Sonos system in the house now and it becomes your remote which travels through the house and into the kitchen, backyard or wherever. I also Bluetooth it to my car radio and chuck it in the console which eliminates a cord which is always good. When I -
We have lost an oddly high number of really talented musician already this year yet Rascal Flats and Jay-Z live on...life just isn't fair sometimes.

I stand corrected then...I remembered your harsh tone towards my beloved Skyline Chili and probably subconsciously filed it in my "hates goetta too" folder. Goetta quite possibly may be the worlds most perfect food. I mean its grey with black chunks, its ingredients are largely unknown, you run into oddly chewy parts with every other bite and it goes best fried and layed atop 3 over medium eggs with a piece of dark rye. It is a staple in Northern Ky...all this has nothing to do with NoJ but when I see your profile pic I just think of you as the guy who hates Skyline(and previously goetta). Sor

So if this thing goes to a contested convention and Trump gets the Republican nominee yanked out from under him, does this become the first time in modern politics where we have a "legitimate" third party? Granted, they won't beat Hillary if it comes down to it this year but it is possible that a 3rd party is created that can actually pull votes. Sometimes you have to go all the way to the bottom before you can start rebuilding. The country is far from the bottom contrary to what the 24 hour networks want you to believe but we may be at the bottom as far as major political parties coexisting -
But will my Reds lose the 100 games everyone says we will? I think not. I think the young guys could benefit from the lack of expectation and the old guys benefit from the infusion of youth. Hell, I just talked myself into a play off berth!!!
