Wilco is not a Country Band - JT Boise Paper Interview
The Inside of Outside replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in Just A Fan
I am anxiously awaiting Wilco's "Best Loved Favorites Vol. 2". Or Vol. 1 for that matter. -
Early Era Wilco Interview(s) on JBTV - at the Vic

I thought the exact same thing when I watched this! I checked myself, though, and thought that I am reading my own bias into the clip. -
Wilco — 6/23/12, Morrison, CO (Red Rocks Amphitheatre)
The Inside of Outside replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
Had an epiphany just before the opening hymn in church this morning - I realized why I loved the set list above. Six songs from Being There, including half of the songs in the encore. -

I agree with the latter sentiment. I chuckle (quietly) when my kids ask why it smells like a skunk at times at Wilco shows. And a fantastic set list! Wow! -
He has to stay in the pokey.

I thought their music started to become plodding and humorless beginning with Grace Under Pressure. By Hold Your Fire, they had lost me. I agree with the comments about their mixing, too - muddy and buried for years now. Still amazing musicians, just not-so-amazing songs.

I am digging this, too: Theologians Monday> Outtasite (Outta Mind)> -

This made me laugh! Sharp wit and a good memory for "news" from other threads.

Great plan! Best decision we made last year was getting in Thursday so we could do just that. Got a chance to check out the area on Friday, including going to the museum in the morning to walk around when it was relatively empty. Now if we can preselect the weather for Solid Sound 2013, maybe sunny and 75 degrees, we'll be all set.

Very, very glad to be seeing them a few times this summer after reading this. Already have motel rooms booked for Solid Sound 2013 - that weekend some 54 weeks from now will help me weather the semi-hiatus.

Jagger with Arcade Fire and Foo Fighters

This is exactly what I think of when I think of the Foo Fighters. -
Who's Going To What/Which/When 2012 Gigs? Roll Call
The Inside of Outside replied to linclink's topic in Just A Fan
Just bought tickets for Davenport on July 3rd. Driving from Maine to CT to join up with two old friends on July 2nd. Then it's an overnight drive (17 hours) from Hartford to Davenport. Should roll into Davenport around 5 PM if all goes well. Then it will be off to WI or MN on July 4th for camping for a few days before heading back to New England. That makes Davenport, Cooperstown, and Burlington this summer. A trifecta. -

Cooperstown Burlington -
I continue to like the whole album. No dragging in the middle for me. I am a fan of Capitol City, and Open Mind, though not a favorite, is a good solid ballad. And I love the lyrics in Born Alone.

2012 Baseball Season!!!
The Inside of Outside replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I thought the last pitch could have gone either way - swing, check swing. It was an ugly pitch - badly overthrown, by a jacked-up-on-adrenaline pitcher. All that said, I was glad to see him get the perfect game. Just looked at team stats across the majors - Washington Nationals have a team ERA of 2.34. Wow! That is impressive. That will lead to a record of 12-4 pretty quickly. On the flip side, the Red Sox have a team ERA of 6.68. Wow! That sucks. That will lead to a 4-10 record pretty quickly. The Red Sox have given up 95 runs this year; next closest team is the Cubs, having given up 77. -
Their sound was pretty heavy at Solid Sound. And heavy on guitar too. I liked it.

Bob Weir is a Wilco fan
The Inside of Outside replied to A heart I know by heart's topic in Just A Fan
That version of Hard To Handle rocks. Rocks even harder if you take a tab or psilocybin. There are folks in that crowd who appear to be rockin hard to it. -
I first saw The Band in 1983 or so - they opened for CSN. I was more excited to see The Band. Saw them again at a tiny bar in CT in the mid-90s. And then Levon at Solid Sound. Loved all those horns last June. No ramble, but I have no regrets.

To think that he was on American Bandstand when my parents were 23 (1957), did that show on ABC until I was about the same age (1987), and did the New Year's Rockin' Eve until my own kids were approaching their teen years. Talk about spanning the generations... I was a fan of the $25,000 Pyramid when he hosted it. The guy was everywhere for a decade or two. Makes Ryan Seacrest look lazy. He has earned his rest.

Ten years is a long time. That is a lot of memories. "The amount of time to get over = the amount of time in" is an interesting concept.

Me three.

I had the same feeling. Can't put my finger directly on why the feeling is so strong. Love his music from The Band to now, but I am thinking it is more than that. I guess when you see him play, you see a window into humanity that you might not see very often. He is so full of joy on stage.

Weekend road trip to Cooperstown and Essex Junction. 15+ hours of driving, over 800 miles round trip. Baseball HOF, Wilco show, Fort Ticonderoga, Wilco show, Ben and Jerry's ice cream, then home. A summer's worth of fun in 2 and a half days.
