I'm sure I've told this story here before but the last time I saw Grant was an interesting night. He was playing a venue in Somerville (Mass.) that doesn't have many shows. We got there early because we couldn't get advance tickets. Grant was hanging out front so my friend and I chatted with him for a while and then we all went backstage and hung out with him in his dressing room until the show began. Show was great. They did a first set that was a mix of old stuff, some "hits," and some new, yet-to-be-released stuff and then the second set was Let Me Come Over in its entirety. I don't think I've ever see them do a bad show.

What a strange late season in MLB. The Dodgers - who looked like they were running away with everything in August - now can't win a game and the Indians may actually never lose again. 20 wins in a row is pretty unbelievable.

It's an old ballroom (but also includes a restaurant and a smaller performing space) but I don't think it had rock shows until a few years ago. I've seen a bunch of shows there, including Robyn Hitchcock on his last time through town.

I'm a big fan of Auster and I'm about 1/3 of the way through this. It's an interesting concept - it's basically four stories in one. It follows the same set of characters but each chapter is a grouping of four different scenarios within the same timeframe imaging if different decisions had been made by the characters. I'm liking it so far but it's almost 900 pages and I could see it turning into a bit of a confusing slog at some point.

Somehow I've missed or forgotten how great this album is. Ricky Wilson's guitar is fantastic.

It was a great great show. Unfortunately (for me) I was in the balcony. It was pretty intense up there but must have been nuts right up front.
