  1. I know I'm repeating myself but Neutral Milk Hotel! remphish1 - how was it?
  2. I remember at the time reading an interview where they said their next album was going to be called Go To Hell and they would all be dressed in devil's costumes. Glad that never happened ...
  3. In the Pixies' Monkey's Gone to Heaven I love how Black Francis says "Rock me Joe" before Joey Santiago's solo.
  4. Not sure this belongs here or in the blasphemy thread. Heroes is one of my favorite songs by any artist but I don't really care for David Bowie. I don't dislike him but he doesn't do much for me.
  5. Nice! I'm going Thursday and pretty excited about it.
  6. ARod suspended for 2014 season. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/11/alex-rodriguez-receives-162-game-suspension/related/

Joan Osborne, members of the Black Crowes Kingsley Flood The Hot Stove All-Stars featuring Peter Gammons, Theo Epstein, Paul Barrere of Little Feat, Buffalo Tom's Bill Janovitz, indie rocker Kay Hanley, Belly's Tanya Donelly,
  8. I'm not sure this is blasphemy but the only thing of Clapton's that I ever listen to is Derek and the Dominoes. And I only like about half of that album.
  9. I suppose I could jump into the musical blasphemy thread as well. There was a lot to like about this movie but I also felt it was lacking. I felt like it got behind the scenes of Chris Bell but didn't really dig into Alex Chilton. Definitely worth seeing if you are a fan though ...
  10. Great new collection of short stories by Tom Perrotta.
  11. Agreed. I listen to WL/WH as much as I listen to any VU album. (That said, I'm not sure I'm going to get any of the deluxe editions that just came out.)
  12. Moe Tucker remembers Lou: http://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/dec/15/lou-reed-moe-tucker-obituary
  13. Love the studio version of Black Eye (top 5 Uncle Tupelo song for me) but don't really like Jeff's solo live version
  14. Cano to Seattle - 10-years for $240 million http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/10089241/robinson-cano-agrees-deal-seattle-mariners
  15. Percentage-wise you have to go with John Cazale. He was in five movies before he died of cancer: Godfather, The Conversation, Godfather II, Dog Day Afternoon, and Deer Hunter. They were all nominated for Best Picture.
  16. According to Gordon Edes: "Source close to negotiations said Sox offered Ellsbury a six-year deal for less than $120 million. A 5 yr/100m offer also was on table." But Nick Cafardo at the Globe writes "The Red Sox were never comfortable crossing the five-year, $100 million mark, though we still don’t know what their final offer was."
  17. Ellsbury to Yankees - 7 years/$153 million http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/10075982/jacoby-ellsbury-new-york-yankees-agree-contract
  18. I agree with the first three of these statements and I'm on the fence on the fourth. If my local record store had it in stock the other day I probably would have bought it. Maybe I'll get it from itunes or something.
  19. I haven't watched the whole thing yet but there is some great stuff.
  20. Talking Heads vs. Television A BBC Channel 4 production from 1984. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyaPRx5fNlQ#t=673
  21. I thought it was fantastic. We were on the floor on the side and the sound was great. I went up closer on the left side at one point and the sound was not as good; it got muddier as I got closer. Weird crowd. People pretty into it during the songs but between songs it was really quiet, both on stage and in the audience. It actually wasn't as loud as I thought it was going to be.
