I was lucky enough to be at all four. This may sound crazy, but I bought tickets for two of the nights at the venue the night of the show. It was a glorious time. I wish we knew which shows these new tracks came from. When K TV first came out VC was able to figure them all out. Not sure this time around...

Your Favorite Nuances/Parts of Wilco Songs
nalafej replied to choo-choo-charlie's topic in Just A Fan
What I call the kettle whistle scream on I'm a Wheel is my all time favorite. -
I saw two shows and I'd say Miami > Savannah mostly because of the venue and crowd though.

That post does not answer the question...

"As for the songs, MOJO showcases a wide variety of American music from rock ‘n’ roll to country and both electric and acoustic blues. And then there are the images in Petty’s lyrics which slip in on the melodies and set up a home in your head: The barefoot girl in the high grass chewing on a stick of sugar cane, the run-in with the law that begins when a carload of buddies decide to party with the motel maids, and the hilariously audacious idea of opening an album with an electric blues rocker about Thomas Jefferson’s love affair with Sally Hemings. Petty would probably chuck a rock at anyone

Very useful information! Thanks for posting that, I hadn't seen it.

Thank you Wilco for pushing the boundaries of your live show. You still care about your live show and it is greatly appreciated by your fans. I saw two evening with shows and was blown away - this from somebody who has seen the band over 30 times starting in 1995. Thank you!

Any chance they'll change up the opening song?
nalafej replied to Jahmazed's topic in After The Show
I think it is a great opener for this tour - especially with the robot intro and ending song part. -
What does Jeff's shirt say? looks like something about terrorism and chicago police?
-
Seems possible that the additional work done for the LP is related to the new tracks.

Anybody have a friend back out? I'm looking for one but would take your pair off your hands. I'm driving up from FL for the show and can meet you outside Thursday...

Terrible? You people are crazy! They were all great shows. This album captures it so well. Can't wait for the vinyl.

Amazing Amazing Amazing. 35+ shows and the band still blows my mind coming up with new things - loved every bit of this show and crowd. Great theater. Great song selection. Wilco feeling a bit goofy. They did take a VCer idea and have that computer voice that they've used before ask people to not video tape which was really funny. Taking requests outside the venue before the show brought up some great songs and is encouraging from a setlist variability standpoint for the rest of the tour. They even were giving out dinners for 2 to the people who's requests were played! At the dining establ

Rolling Stones to reissue Get Your Ya Ya's Out

I love the setlist for the ladies and gentlemen dvd - that is the same setlist they are still playing today! -
I'm going to the show. Nice to see Everlasting Everything on that list. They have never played it. It would be a great way to close the main set and really signify that wilco is making these evenings with Wilco unique by playing this at the first show on the tour. It gets my vote. Anybody else for it?

yes def has that same vibe. Not a bad thing...

doors at 7. show at 8.

It did sound great. One of many highlights. The Good Part. More Like the Moon. Radio King. Too Far Apart. Seemed like Jeff didn't write the lyrics to half the songs tonight given all the Mermaid love + the BS, Dylan, Young, Elvis (?) covers and Monkey Mess.

While Jeff did say "Company in My Back (first time acoustic)" he isn't actually right. He's done it before. I've seen him do it at Marytrs and I haven't checked wilcobase to see if it was done any other time. Lots of crazy songs tonight. Long show. Great, funny stories. Surprised by the lack of songs from BT, YHF and W(TA)

Still plenty of unheard songs that could be catchy. I like Good Enough, but hope there are some classic catchy Petty tracks on this one too.

I swore off seeing Petty after attending one show at the Chicago's Vic Theater in April of 2003. There is no way he could top that. I have been to 3 shows since - long story - but he still puts on a good show. The post super bowl tour was pretty great. Steve Winwood joined him on stage and it was fun. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the openers jump on stage with Tom during the tour. The Heartbreakers are a very impressive band - Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench are so good. Benmont plays on everybody's records.

I commented on those on first viewing as well. Distracting.
