jenbobblehead
well, good luck to him. what a weird situation. in Boston you have the team posting on blogs and websites about how the red sox have to keep mike lowell--did any of A-rod's team mates do that? I just hope that him going back to NY means that the red sox can concentrate on keeping Lowell.
Spawn's dad
dunno. I'd read Tweedy's blog before I read the blog of some athlete
ction
Lowell already has a deal with the Angels. 101 out of 100 on a being done scale.
boywiththorninside
Unbelievable. Where are they getting this from? I just tuned in. Is it for 10 yrs? WFAN is reporting 10 years/$275 million. I don't know where they are getting the numbers from.
Lammycat
WFAN is reporting 10 years/$275 million. I don't know where they are getting the numbers from.Which wouldn't be a pay cut but is substantially less than he/Boras thought he could get after opting out.
Spawn's dad
and significantly more than the 240 I predicted
MattZ
(Paraphrased) statement from the Chief Operating Officer of the Yanks just read on WFAN: "Talks are ongoing as we speak. Nothing definitive to report at this moment. We are hopeful."Â When asked if Boras is involved -- response: "No Comment."Â Wow.
Lammycat
How can Boras not have his tentacles on this in some way, though?
jenbobblehead
i have a very very very hard time believing that even the Boras "slight" isn't completely scripted. It makes no sense, but i just don't believe that Boras would at any time maneuver himself into a situation like this.
ction
Sounds like a pay cut for Boras.

Sir Stewart
I don't understand any of this. Literally. I know A-Rod plays baseball and Scott Boras is his agent and the Yankees are all felonious lemon partyers, and that's about all.
ZenLunatic
I am disappointed in A-rod going back to the Yanks. A 10year deal, not bad for opting out. $27 million will still be alot in baseball for years to come. Looks like Boras is out da door. I agree that he didnt set this up, doesnt make sense to. caliber66
Maybe it was a ruse to get the Red Sox to let Mike Lowell go.
Twisted Acres
Wow, perhaps the days of Boras being such a power player may be over. Good riddance, frankly. If any of this is true, I'm glad that A-Rod has decided to not be led around on a leash by Boras like he has his entire career.
bobbob1313
Dumb move by the Yankees. Eckstein is still out there.

boywiththorninside
Lowell is still on the Yankees' radar Lowell at first? In the Bronx? What are the odds?
Oil Can Boyd
Lowell is still on the Yankees' radarLowell at first? In the Bronx? What are the odds?Channel 7 news (out of Boston) reported last night that there are four teams who have offered Lowell a four year contract: the Angels, Braves, Cardinals, and Yankees. Lammycat
Lowell is still on the Yankees' radar Lowell at first? In the Bronx? What are the odds?Could happen, except that Lowell has never played first base before and has stated he doesn't want to play first base. Lowell's looking for a 4-yr. contract at around $14 mm. per. I don't think the Sox want to do that so if he doesn't get re-signed by BOS I could see any of the other three teams showing overt interest to be more of a reasonable place for him to land than NY. Lammycat
What are the Red Sox offering? 3 years?Yes. Somewhere around $11-13mm./yr I believe.
bobbob1313
The Sox are being smart in not offering the 4th year. I'd be surprised if he's worth the contract by the 2nd year.
