mfwahl
Speaking of which, sorry if I have missed it somewhere, but has it been mentioned anywhere that One Wing will be on the record?? Bad ass tune... This is the most recent thing I've seen. Not definitive but sounds like it will definitely be on there! What about the song

dondoboy
Doesn't it seem like many articles far in advance of a June release? Maybe I'm crazy. With this many people hearing at least parts of it this far in advance, its gonna leak.

With this many people hearing at least parts of it this far in advance, its gonna leak.If they don't hit any bumps with the mixdown, I'm hoping they'll start streaming it on their site in about a month. The only thing that makes me doubt this is how they are going to market the DVD. Early on I thought we'd be seeing clips from the DVD online by now, but because of the pre-order (w/ clip) and all the screenings, I kind of doubt that. But yeah, it's got to leak soon quickly followed by a stream on the site.
lamradio
But yeah, it's got to leak soon quickly followed by a stream on the site. And it will take a lot of restraint not to listen to the leak and the stream from the site... I'm still going to do my best to save my first listen for my car CD player, moments after I purchase the album from my local record store..
DAngerer09
sorry to bring this up again, but does anyone know where I can find the live versions of the tracks that have been played so far? Can anyone compile them and zip it/upload it?

Thanks a lot man. I keep hearing all this talk about certain songs and I don't think I've heard any of them- maybe One Wing at some point...

With this many people hearing at least parts of it this far in advance, its gonna leak.It could be that Nonesuch is cranking up the marketing machine to try to push this one over the top. The timing of a summer release, enough mainstream press and good buzz could be spun into another grammy. It's like a college sports information department gearing up for a Heisman candidate. With this many people hearing at least parts of it this far in advance, its gonna leak. It'll probably be a little longer-- they haven't released the official tracklist or the title yet-- but the album is apparently finished (according to the last living room show thread Jeff's escorts to the northwest burbs of Chicago got a preview of the whole thing) so it's just a matter of time. Hopefully they'll do the same thing they did with SBS, stream it months in advance and let it essentially leak from that. --Mike

Bhickman
advances won't even go out to press until some point in April from what I hear, so it probably won't leak until the first one hits a journalist's grubby little hands. LoL. and that journalist (or whatever I am) won't be me. I never copy and share an album...especially not an advance. I'm not even bullshitting.
entropy
I hear you. Whenever I get advances I don't even load them on my computer for easy listening--if it's gonna leak, it's not gonna be my fault. I have no way to prove this, but I'm almost certain I've ruined relationships over my unwillingness to share press copies of records. Whatever, I can sleep just fine at night. Well, that's a total lie. But it has nothing to do with that. In other words, I am super excited for this record.
Bhickman
Also, only particular to Wilco, I still buy a copy of the album the week it comes out. Even if I am sent a full-artwork copy. I am devoted to the band that much.

I am devoted to the band that much. I'm the same way. I obtained the leaked version of SBS, but still bought the album (twice actually.. the original, and the DVD edition) I have said it before, I'm planning to not listen to any leaks or streams of this album.. There's nothing like hearing the album for the first time when you pop it in your car CD player after leaving the record store.

There's nothing like hearing the album for the first time when you pop it in your car CD player after leaving the record store. What if it's "not the type of album best listened to in your car"? Can you kill the initial vibe of an album by saying, "I'll only listen to it, thus and so." And things like traffic, stupid drivers, a rainy day can strongly impact your listening pleasure/displeasure. (Begs the question -- already answered in other threads perhaps -- where the best place to listen to the drone is?) Dr. Dog's Fate didn't catch me when I listened to it leaving the record store. But listening at home a few days later peeled a few layers off the onion. Through variety of experience during listening and setting, an album grows on you. I can't say where & when I'll listen to the album, but I hope it's a time and place when I can listen to it without distraction.
RaspberryJam
For me, the best place to listen to a Wilco album for the first time is in the car. Again, I'm only speaking for myself, but every single Wilco album revealed its magic after being backround noise for a couple of plays. When the unexpected changes become just the slightest bit expected is the best part. Then, ideally, for me is the best time to have uninterrupted listening sessions on the home system. My thoughts exactly, couldn't have said it better. Are you me in a alternate universe or something? YHF was definitely one that revealed it's magic after being backround noise. I had it playing on the home stereo while eating dinner with the family one evening... And I just remember my wife and I both looking at each other at the same time and saying "God, this is an amazing record.." I think it was during Kamera.
Central Scrutinizer
I didn't notice this on wilcoworld.net/news yesterday ... The forthcoming and still-untitled next Wilco album is nearing completion. Jim Scott and the band spent the last few weeks mixing in Jim's studio in Valencia, California and here's a list of song titles spied on the reels -- note this is not necessarily complete and not in sequence.
