lost highway
It's on 29.Oh yeah, wasn't that the year he put out one million albums?
Analogman
Cold Roses, Jacksonville City Nights, and 29 That is why I know he can do better than what he is offering now.
lost highway
Yeah, I clearly am mixing the work from that year up, but I know I've heard and enjoyed all of it more than some more recent efforts. I actually enjoyed 1989, though.
lost highway
It's on 29.Funny, I just read a ranking of his albums on a music site (consequence of sound maybe? ) that put 29 as his worst. Shows what I know.
Analogman
That's ridiculous. At least for me - it is one of the albums I listen to the most.
worldrecordplayer
Yup, Paste Magazine has "29" ranked #16 out of 16. https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2017/02/ranking-ryan-adams-16-records.html
Analogman
The internets and the artificial intelligence robots that make lists are idiots.
Knight Rider
Yup, Paste Magazine has "29" ranked #16 out of 16. https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2017/02/ranking-ryan-adams-16-records.html Hmm. Certainly not my favorite from Ryan, but I'd have it near the midway point. Nightbirds is such and awesome song. I'd move Demolition way up the list also.
worldrecordplayer
Picked up Prisoner today, just finished a beginning to end listen. I am definitely pretty blown away, such an intense breakup record. And sonically, it sounds amazing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
lost highway
I just pulled out the liner notes for Heartbreaker. Somehow I never knew that Pat Sansone played on that record.... crazy.
Analogman
I think he is on something else Ryan related - but I can't recall what.
dagwave
Great news- woke up to an email announcing a show in Harrisburg, PA on 4/29 - about 1/2 an hour up the road. Got two great 2nd row mezzanine seats center in the artist pre-sale this morning. I believe the capacity for the Whitaker Center Theater is 700. WOOHOO
worldrecordplayer
Beacon review. Getting psyched for tomorrow's show. https://www.relix.com/reviews/detail/ryan_adams_at_the_beacon?utm_source=Relix+Daily&utm_campaign=7f5d41721a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_05_09&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_486e6e4b54-7f5d41721a-25606729&mc_cid=7f5d41721a&mc_eid=441bd0cb72
knotgreen
Today, Ryan Adams shared “Fuck The Rain” – the lead single from #BIGCOLORS. Download/stream the track, which features a guitar solo by John Mayer and Benmont Tench on the organ, here: https://ryanadams.lnk.to/FTheRainFP.“Check out this song it’s cool. Or don’t-we all might die trump is president. I love you, sincerely Ryan Adams.”
uncool2pillow
Great song.
Analogman
There is at least one other song out there - something to do with Pennsylvania. I gave it a try. I didn't care for it.
Jimbo Jones
https://apple.news/APeV6YhC1SPmFE4UBy8m8Aw This sounds really bad. He is taking the deny, deny, deny route.
Analogman
Odd timing - now that he is geared up to be releasing a bunch of albums this year. "through his lawyer" = his shit is in trouble
TCP
Yikes. We've always known he was an asshole. If you told me yesterday "TCP, tomorrow the New York Times will publish a takedown of a popular songwriter that own records of" I wouldn't even hesitate in guessing Ryan. But writing beautiful songs doesn't excuse abusive behaviour. It's all bad but the stuff with the underage girl is utterly unforgivable and disgusting.I wonder what happens from here? The music community has been way too forgiving to abusers.
Boss_Tweedy
Not surprising at all if true. I stopped being a fan of his in 2005 when he walked offstage early in a show after an incoherent rant. If this is true then he's just a bad person all the way around. And his musical talent doesn't and shouldn't make up for that.
chuckrh
I like some of his music but the behavior is abhorrent. I think he is the only musician that I've heard of who Neil Finn didn't get along with. Songwriter show on BBC where both were on & there was an incident. https://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/music/crowded-stage-neil-finn-ryan-adams-in-foulmouthed-tv-bustup-20111027-1ml3j.html

TCP
Hey TCP, he’s Canadian, right?Asking for a friend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Nope, our Adams is by all reports a good enough dude. Ryan Adams is all yours, America.
uncool2pillow
I'm not at all surprised by this. Saddened. IIRC, he's been public about getting sober recently and his big plans for the year are probably completely dashed. If the LPs come out, I will still give them a listen. I watched Louis CK's Horace & Pete after his allegations came out. I wouldn't pay to see either live and will avoid trying to give them any $$ directly. His denials seem pretty pathetic in light of the evidence the NYT has compiled.
NoJ
Old news, this all happened back in the summer of
