great read

I have some difficult news for everyone: Progressives aren’t interested in diversity. We aren’t interested in inclusion. We aren’t interested in tolerance. The progressives I know give exactly zero shits about those things.

We have no interest in everyone getting treated the same. We have no interest in giving all ideas equal airtime. We have no interest in “tolerating” all beliefs. I don’t know where this fairy tale comes from, but it’s completely disconnected from every experience I’ve had with progressive liberal folks in my lifetime.

When conservatives cross their arms and glare and shout “It’s not fair! You’re supposed to welcome everyone but you aren’t being nice to me!” it stings about as much as if they shouted, “It’s not fair, you’re supposed to be wearing tutus and juggling flaming donuts!”

The progressive liberal agenda isn’t about being nice. It’s about confronting evil, violence, trauma, and death. It’s about acknowledging the ways systemic power, systemic oppression, systemic evil, work in our world around us. I’m not fighting for diversity. I’m not fighting for tolerance. I’m fighting to overturn horrific systems of dehumanizing oppression.

Local control is often for the better, although sometimes it's a Trojan horse for cutting federal funding for programs.

And when those programs are cut and you don't get a commensurate break on your federal taxes, but you are hit with an increase in state and local taxes...

That's a tax increase.

GOP = tax increases.

Which is also how you get metropolitan areas like mine where you have pretty solid funding in a fairly well-to-do county with high property values, and therefore good tax revenue. Then cross the street and it's shit, because a more impoverished county has higher educational needs AND lower tax revenue because the property isn't worth much.

i don't come around much these day, and I'm too lazy to scroll through 17 pages, so i'll just ask:  Has Hixter chimed in recently?

Hixter has been gone since a few months before the election.  Which is a shame, because before he left he said he would have voted for Trump.  I wonder what his thoughts are now.

BOOM!

In other news Kelly Anne Conway received a so-called "talking to" when she told everyone to go out and buy Ivanka's line of hot pants. This would be a violation of ethics since she is a high-profile public servant and shouldn't be trying to increase profits for a friend's brand.

It was nice to see Rep. Chaffetz speak out against it.

In the grand scheme of things, this whole Conway thing is nothing to the other ethics violations that this new administration has been doing - like banning a whole religion (of 7 countries) from entering this country.

(Yes, I know Chaffetz's committee has nothing to do with monitoring or sanctioning the ban.)

I feel this is just a smoke screen. With her near melt down on CNN a couple days ago, her Bowling Green f ups and general stupidness, I think the administration is has offered her up as a token, a "hey look American public we do care about ethics" type of thing.  She is an easy sacrificial lamb.  I honestly believe that Conway was told to say this, to move the story from the President's tweet (which is really more of a story) on to her.  I am sure there is a bunch of other stuff going on too if we cared to dive deeper.

I have said this before the President and his team are extremely adept at misdirection.  This whole thing (Trump) has been a con from the get go.  I just wish I knew what the end game is.

^ I agree --- Conway has always seemed to be a mercenary, hence the PAC supproting Cruz to Trump switch.

And I don't blame Conway - it's business, I get it, we all need a gig to get on.

I doubt the Supreme Court will hear it since it was a 3-0 decision.

They might, just to give him a smack down. Imagine what a 8-0 or 7-1 decision, whould do. The president made a huge mistake using the phrase "so called judge."

Let me just share this news headline and let it sink in...

EXCLUSIVE: Defiant Assad tells Yahoo News torture report is "Fake News"

It's on yahoo now.

He learned from the best. Soon he'll start tweeting and ending a critical tweet with "Sad."
