Oil Can Boyd
The Tweedy Show Friday April 10 Episode 21 — “everyone in the Wilco camp is doing ok, but there is some sad news.” Jeff is hesitant to mention details, but he does mention it in the episode. I don't think this is speaking out of turn but John posted on Instagram that his father passed away. He wrote: "Thoughts about our Dad, Avery Stirratt III, who passed peacefully Friday the 10th from cancer. A dedicated family man, and source of stability and unwavering optimism for his family and friends. Lifelong New Orleanian, he and my mother busting their humps with 5 kids, and after losing her in 92, jumping back into music and the instrument, and for the next 29 years playing weekly with his NO banjos +2, up until his last show March 8th. Their weekly shows at usually restaurant venues, were a colorful mix of friends and NO cutups vying for the coveted vocal spot, a kind of Dixieland Karaoke. My sister Laurie and I could never ask for a bigger supporter for our musical careers, never heavy on advice, just providing that quiet affirmation of presence and enjoyment. Solid Sound(s), Hollywood Bowl, of course New Orleans and Chicago gigs over the years, and just last fall, pulling an 8 hour NO-Nashville drive the evening before our Opryland gig only to check in to the hotel, and walk straight to the venue to check out the Opry review, all at 88. Could not ask for a better supporter, father and confidante. Rest easy."

Magnetized
The Tweedy Show Saturday April 18 Episode 28)A couple of real surprises in that show for me. First, I’m amazed that Wilco was booked to OPEN for Natalie Merchant. Seems strange. And also, that was an amazing story about Susie getting handpicked to go backstage at an Elvis show. I’ve heard stories of things like that but I’ve never known anybody it really happened to.
