pure ambient. i like to play it before bed. i'm sure there's more going on than that but haven't been moved to delve any deeper than that.

Another day, another Blender list
willywoody replied to boywiththorninside's topic in Someone Else's Song
my bad. but now that you point it out, two albums from the meat muppets!?!? oh yeh but there's two from husker du as well! -
it'd be cool to have a band where you could rotate verlaine, cline and masics around as the songs dictated.

the list is predictably too heavy on recent releases. arcade fire c'mon. alt-country is neglected. and it looks like a group is only allowed one album. whatever. -
if you like brick, check out the dead girl. great enseble cast and pretty weird in parts but great acting and nice unconventional strorytelling.

saw 'em down here in charleston two weeks ago and it was really goo. watson twins opened which i thought would blow but they were pretty good. magnolia electric were a little more mellow than i expected based upon the trial and errors cd but were great. don't know how long they played but i'd imagine it was at least a 90 minute set.

i've been listening to this several times a week. incredible harmonies and arrangements.

that would make sense as it sounds like it was from that period.

don't have it digitized yet but just picked up the you can never go fast enough lp. it's atribute album to the 70's movie two lane blacktop that starred james taylor and dennis wilson. quite the strange idea for an lp but it does evoke a feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere i suppose. the recorded version of old maid seems to be mostly if not only tweedy with guitar and was probably recorded in 2002 or earlier is my best guess. i picked up the lp from music direct for 13 bucks or so for a double lp. Old Maid Girl, I think we're getting old My heart's grown colder And your hair

guess i'm the only one reading stereophile these days. no wonder i got a year's subscription for 8 bucks. btw, it's a good read with some insights into his views on creating music and the guitar solo in Impossible Germany, iirc.

Can't Cry Hard Enough Performed by Victoria Williams Written by David Williams & Marvin Etzioni I'm going to live my life Like every day's my last Without a simple goodbye It all goes by so fast And now that you're gone I can't cry hard enough No I can't cry hard enough For you to hear me now I'm going to open my eyes And see for the first time I've let go of you like A child letting go of his kite There it goes up in the sky There it goes beyond the clouds For no reason why I can't cry hard enough No I can't cry hard enough For you to hear me now I'm going to look back in

i don't know, in the other thread it was mentioned they might be hanging it up.

This month's Stereophile magazine has a nice article on Nels, in case anyone's interested to check it out. What I've read so far has not told me anything I didn't already know but I'm only halfway through it.

Can't send no fourteen year-old boy to no school The only thing i learned in the years i worked on my daddy's farm was, "Son, you better get them crops in when it turns cool." In the magazines, I saw the naked women I heard about the drinkin' and the bars If my daddy could've caught me, he'd a-killed me He said, "You might run, boy, but you ain't gonna get far." I hit town or you might say that it hit me Next mornin' there were things I knew more about The woman who had taken me in said, "Country boy, you're all right." The same way I turned her on, she turned me out The first

here's my breakdown on the weekend. too many people . they need to cut it back a couple thousand. as mentioned i heard it got a little scary up front during sonic youth and i experienced the overcrowded conditions up front for dan deacon, at least for a few songs before i bailed as i had a bad feeling something bad was gonna happen. i heard the fencing got pushed down into the adjacent street but don't think there were any serious injuries. slint sucked. and on top of that you couldn't hear them from farther than 30 feet. gza and crew were alright but clipse's performance blew them away. son

i probably saw lou too. i was a little overwhelmed by all the vinyl there and the few things i saw on friday were gone by sunday. you snooze you lose.

try these(although maybe not in this order): hallelujah answering bell stars go blue jacksonville skyline crazy about you choked up (off the pneumonia demo) sweet illusions yesterday's news the hardest part in my time of need a song for you i thought the songs you picked for the comp were good but emphasized his harder rocking stuff and some of the songs where he's over singing. just my two cents though. i've wanted to respond to this thread all week and just got the time.

Where is SBS this week on the Billboard charts?
willywoody replied to unposed_question's topic in Just A Fan
or maybe they should've done a dell commercial like the flaming lips or a verizon commercial like feist? -
thanks.

here in charleston we have two independent stores that stock new vinyl and used, with another that just stocks used vinyl. none of them carry the greatest selection, like waterloo or amoeba, but 52.5 downtown on king st is the best of the three and specializes in more obscure titles. i'm not certain how he stays afloat to tell you the truth but its definitely worth checking out if you ever make it to charleston. he's been in business over ten years so i hope he can keep it going.
