Just saw my #2 team, VCU play their best game of the season last night crushing George Mason 71-50 in the CAA Championship to secure an automatic NCAA bid. I rushed the court and everything. Senior Eric Maynor (who knocked out Duke 2 years back) had 25 points and 8 assists and just took the game over in a 10 point stretch in the first half. Sophomore center Larry Sanders set CAA tourney records with 7 blocks and a totally ridiculous 20 boards, to go along with 18 points. The team is playing their best ball of the season and will likely be a 9 or 10 seed that no higher seed wants anything to d

Your musical guilty pleasures

I actually would count Ace's solo album as better then any full band album that came out after 1977. There's really not a song on it that I dislike. Even to this day I listen to it all the way through. I'm surprised there's not more love for Paul's solo. Three great tracks are: "Wouldn't You Like to Know Me," It's Alright," and "Love In Chains." I've retried both the Gene and Peter albums recently and I still hate them. I would also add that Ace wrote more memorable Kiss songs than Gene overall. Gene's writing post-solo albums went way downhill whereas Ace and Paul carried those last few -

Holy smokes, I've missed seeing them many times over the years. And I loved the fuck out of "Beyond." That song "All I came To do," sounds like it could've fit nicely on "You're Living All Over Me." Toad's will be a great place to see them. Can't wait.

I still remember the first time I saw the video for "Out of Nowhere" on 120 Minutes when I was in 10th grade. I immediately thought, Wow that doesn't sound like anything else I listen to, but damn I really, really like it. I still have that video on a VHS tape of videos that I recorded off of MTV.

Richard is certainly the most compelling, mysterious character on the show. I always rewatch sequences with him to try and glean any clues possible.

Walt returns tonight!

The DD boys are hosting a live show on WXPN Philly right now. It's easy to find online. Sir Douglas Quintet as we speak. I'll be catching the Charlottesville show in a few days.

Another movie, book, album deal huh? Somehow I don't think this trifecta will have the same impact as last time. All that being said I'll probably end up buying this.

I'm in with Magazine Called Sunset and Billyman for the Knoxville, Athens and Asheville trifecta. Row F Orch Center for Knoxville and Asheville and Ga's for Athens.

The SEC in general is weaker than ever. If there are more then 2 or 3 teams that make the tournament I'd be stunned.

Didn't mean to pour any salt in your wounds. Without Jodie Meeks poring in 30-40 every game we'd be sub-500. Even still, probably a one and done in the NCAA.

Are you sure you're not talking about Kobe Bryant's high score from a couple of years back?

Looks like there's still room for a few more shows back to Chicago from Oxford, perhaps Louisville will be in the mix. EDIT - I just saw that New Orleans is the 25th, so maybe some more deep south shows, followed by shows back north after NoLa.

Warriors...come out to playeeeeaay!

I love your friend's sense of humor and enthusiasm. I used to see The Warriors on regular tv as a Midnight movie all the time in the 80's. I've never seen it in the theater, though I would love to. I'm not a fan of The Eagles or much of their solo careers, but I can't imagine the movie without "In The City." The song almost sounds sinister if that's even possible. -
Paging Brad, Are you ready to go down today? Signed, a desperate Kentucky team with a 17-year NCAA tourney run on the line.

I work at a arena here in Richmond and there is major long-term worry that as big-time artists like the Stones, Springsteen, U2, etc die off there will be no viable artists of comparable success from say the mid-80's on to fill the gaps that these major draws bring in. Hip Hop and youth pop artists have very little staying power, and many would be major rock bands of the past 25 years have disintegrated. It could jump start a country-wide shift to have more of a focus on Wilco-sized venues (2-4,000), and probably even more one-stop Bonnaroo-esque festivals.

I knew multiple metalheads who though Motley Crue doing "Anarchy in the U.K." was a new song by them.

Was it Kwame Brown who Jordan made cry daily during the comeback with the Wizards? Speaking of crying, did anybody see that tongue lashing that Garnett gave Big Baby Davis awhile back. Davis was crying uncontrollable on the bench during a game. KG must've said something I can't even imagine to make another player sob during the middle of a game.

The B-sides and outtakes from "The River" are classics in their own right. "Held Up Without A Gun," is as close to punk as the E Street Band ever got. Just a ferocious song. And though somewhat lightweight I really love "Be True." I got to see that one on "The Rising," Tour and it made me very happy. A-Man, speaking of "Racing In The Street," have you ever seen those bumper stickers that say: "My other car is a "69 Chevy with a 396"? I've seen them two or three times over the years and I always beep and give them the thumbs up.

some DVD info, but mostly about Blu-Ray

Very cool that this is coming out on record store day. I'll be at Plan 9 at 10 am sharp. I think I'll pick up the double 10" "Evil Urges" as well. -
I just had time for "Hotel Arizona," and it just made my day. I love that song.

"The Daily News asks you for the dope, you say man the dope is that there's still hope." I couldn't resist that. Well, it sold significantly less than "Magic" in its first week, which makes lots of sense to me, as "Magic," was very good to great. It'll be interesting to see how much the Super Bowl helps week 2 sales. If history is any indicator it probably means he'll be number one again. Regarding Jin: We are to now believe that he somehow jumped of of the freighter in the seconds between when we last saw him on the deck and the explosion. Then he furthermore managed to safely navigate away from the fiery wreckage, maintain his sanity and strength enough to start swimming towards the island and then be within the radius of the island shifting. Lastly, he's been floating around off of the coast for who knows how long in actual time with no food or water and has experienced all of the time jumps that the other Losties have experienced. Did I leave anything out? Also, how long

I've listened to it 3 times for every once I've listened to SBS since it came out. But that's true for every other album as well, except 5 x to 1 BT to SBS.
