Anybody interested in hearing a track ("Hard Sun") off of the upcoming Eddie Vedder solo disc/soundtrack for the Sean Penn film adaptation of the John Krakauer book Into the Wild, here you go. I like it: http://www.spinner.com/2007/08/20/eddie-ve...-into-the-wild/

Jeff Playing Hardly Stricty Bluegrass Festival 10/5 in SF
Lammycat replied to redfieldp's topic in Just A Fan
Holy cripes that's an insane line-up (Prine, Jorma, Doc Watson, Del McCoury, Grisman, Emmylou, Louvin, Earl Scruggs, Steve Earle, Skaggs/Hornsby, Pete Wernick, Bela, etc., etc.) and Tweedy, to boot. -
We used to do funnels of MD every now and then. I don't recommend it to anyone. Especially if it's the Hawaiian blue flavored one.

I've never heard of Cisco, kid. Looks like an even cheaper rip off of Mad Dog 20/20.

Where to start with The Grateful Dead?
Lammycat replied to reverandgroove's topic in Someone Else's Song
A-man, I'd be willing to bet you were in the minority. I realize it's their music and they can do what they want with it, but it seems that Lemeiux is trying to save face on a very overt effort by Rhino/whomever to bitchslap the fan yet again. Just another chink added to the fence that's slowing been built between the fan and the tunes since 1995. -
Turns out Mike Vick may be in hot water with Jesus too. He said during his statement that he axed God for forgiveness. That's gotta hurt.

Has any one else checked out Lemieux's statement about yanking of the mp3 format? I don't know....pretty weak. -
Peace, Love and Anarchy is good, too. Todd's my boy. If you get a chance, score his Moondawg discs. It's a 5 cd set put together by a fan of all live stuff. Excellent compilation and worth hours of great Todd stories and tunes. You need to get on the listserve list and folks will offer to send them out as long as you agree to re-send to another group once you have them.

Sounds good. Gabor's is a good call, too. Funky and laid back. Goosetown Tavern and Mezcal (right next to each other) are decent joints, too.

The Wynkoop Brewery and Rock Bottom Brewery (both brew pubs) are both down town (short busride/longer walk to Fillmore) and there's an Irish pub up the street from the Fillmore http://www.irishsnug.com/ There's also The Red Room which has good beer on tap and good food that's a few blocks from the Fillmore, too. There are a lot of cheap dive bars in the neighborhood, too. Sancho's and Dulcinea's are right next door. These are my hangs. http://www.quixotes.com/

There are tons of bars in walking distance to the Fillmore. Irish pubs, dive bars, hippy joints, etc. What kind of bars do you consider good?

I don't recall seeing tapers at Fillmore shows and I've been to a lot of Fillmore shows. They frisk you at one point and check tix at another on the way in. They also have a good amount of security. The entire place is GA (save for two VIP balconies). I'd call and see if they bend policy for certain bands.... ed. Come to think of it, I have seen tapers at Phil Lesh shows there and a few other shows. It's a band policy thing. You shouldn't have a problem.

The "religion" didn't start 300 years after the death of Jesus (who, btw, supposedly died in very early A.D.). Catholicism is a splinter church from Christianity. There are many splinter "churches" from the religion of Christianity and the Catholic church is the dominant (most populated) church. Christianity, a religion, began with the apostles of Jesus immediately after Jesus was believed to have risen from death to instruct them to spread his beliefs/teachings. Eventually conflict ensued as it often does with beliefs and people separated to form other churches that still have a basis in

Todd Snider covers "Blowin' in the Wind": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2gkPe2cgz4...ted&search= And a newer tune he's only done a few handfuls of times, "Freer Bird": ed. Here's an older clip of Leo Kottke doing a medley of "San Antonio Rose-> America the Beautiful-> Vaseline Machine Gun." If you've never seen Leo perform before and are a guitarist you should check him out. The last part of the medley, "Vaseline Machine Gun," is a tune that I simply did not believe was one man playing the guitar the first time I heard it on record: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

Not to stick my nose in too far here, but I think the "poverty" and "education" pieces go hand-in-hand.

Haven't received pre-sale tickets for denver wilco show..
Lammycat replied to wilcohead's topic in Just A Fan
But...but...you received your tickets when they said you would. They honored their end of the deal. Must be the service fees you don't like, then. -
Absurd.

Has Jeff ever talked about Elliott Smith in interviews etc
Lammycat replied to junkbond_trader's topic in Someone Else's Song
I can agree that Morrison had talent. Stage presence, for sure, and a decent voice. He just sucked as a lyricist and the whole Morrison-as-poet thing is off, imo. I'm from the camp that thinks The Doors are a very overrated band, though. -
"Bruce Kulick" is (was, now) Jeff's hotel alias. Thanks for blowing his cover.
