  1. Neil is also playing the Sault, just got my tickets yesterday, sort of crazy how I've seen him three times in three years now in all different cities 8-10 hours away and then he comes to play our 5,000 seat arena in my hometown. Whatever I am certainly not complaining.
  2. Really?!?! I was just talking to a friend today about going to the Pontiac date but I can pretty much guarantee I'll be at that one.
  3. I didn't like it very much, arrangement or performance, but I do really love that song. Jack's phrasing was very much like new Dylan I thought.
  4. I think they can be pretty synonymous, especially within music.
  5. I'll probably go to London or Ottawa as we had tickets for his Kitchener show on the last tour yet we were unable to go so, coincidentally enough we gave the tickets to a girl we knew who went out with Cohen's son back in his monk days. Supposedly it was a very good show!
  6. I was waiting for someone to say Kings Of Leon, Animal Collective and Grizzly Bear (and the latter is pretty ridiculous after one record).
  7. In all honesty I think the bands we consider to be the most "important", excluding Wilco, aren't from America. Radiohead, U2, (arguably I guess but I think so) Coldplay, Arcade Fire etc. I think the White Stripes are for sure in this bunch and really the only other band that might come close is My Morning Jacket or something like that.
  8. I'm on my second listen and I'm still just intrigued with it all (the short song lengths really don't help), none of it really hits you over the head right off the bat, and that might be a good thing. I really enjoy Vengeance Is Sleeping and a few others but it's really tough to say if it's crap or just a purely mediocre, middle of the road record.
  9. Andrew Bird for sure, it's the best record this year so far imo. Plus the art on both the deluxe (though not as good) and original are just awesome.
  10. The one really really small Martin is one of his pre-war ones thats worth a bajillion dollars. He has the two Breedloves, Martin 12 string for Heavy Metal Drummer mainly, and the J-45 with the pictures of Spencer on it. At least thats what he had when I saw him last month.
  11. I do much of the same thing with new tunes that I write, here's a new one http://vimeo.com/3140082 But anyways that was a killer tune, very much enjoyed it.
  12. Oh god that was one of the best things I've seen in a long time on Letterman.
  13. Yeah it was just plain bad, not sure if they were all out of time, tune, everything, just not good...
  14. Slaughter House Five - Vonnegut Of Mice And Men - Steinbeck Lolita - Nabakov Fifth Business - Davies To Kill A Mockingbird - Harper Lee
  15. You've said the same thing about M. Ward, and I understand your point of view but, really if all musicians, bands, or even us the listeners had this mentality it would defeat the purpose of listening to Wilco or Radiohead and remaining a crazed fan, bands that reinvent themselves are usually the best bands imo.
  16. The programs for the festival which he signed.
  17. Final Fantasy, which leads to Arcade Fire and Hidden Cameras.
  18. Ooooook I figured I'd post a bit more about the new songs played, Solitaire and Everlasting Everything. I really really like Solitaire, certainly, to my ears the catchiest and coolest sounding new tune we have heard. Lyrics are much along the same style as One Wing and You And I, in that they have hints of both the Sky Blue Sky bluntness and the AGIB word mashing poeticalness, both of which I love. However, both these songs sound like they were all ready meant for the full band and that we're just getting a very very stripped down version of what we will hear (the only new song that is probabl
  19. That piano version of Fix It makes me wish that he doesn't quit touring, his voice is just so great.
  20. Oh awesome, I really thought his last one was just great even though not too many people heard it, not sure if I get why he's not bigger than he is.
  21. Ok the more reviews I read it is either "this is a masterpiece" or "this is convoluted crap", and personally, I don't know if anyone else can agree I really think this album is just pure genius. It is so intricate and every time I listen to it I am just amazed out how it all fits together, just plain plain awesome and easily my favorite record this year, by a lot actually.
  22. Ooooook we are back and safe from our treacherous drive there and back. It was a very very weird vibe there last night with, from what I felt, majority of the audience was there to see Old Crow Medicine Show and then hard core Wilco fans like ourselves scattered throughout the theatre. This was the first time I've ever seen Jeff solo (weird after all the times I've seen the band) and the first time either of my friends have seen him so it was sort of cool. The set was a little too short for my liking but hearing I Want To Be Your Dog along with the new ones etc. was very cool. Jeff's banter ha
