  1. Canada's own Great Lake Swimmers are opening up for Jeff in Kalamazoo and Champaign, pretty awesome opportunity for these guys.
  2. Yeah I dig it, there are a few duds but the high moments totally make up for them, I certainly hear the Strokes influence on some songs, maybe more like a 60's influenced Strokes, but a bit happier? lol They're nothing serious or anything, just fun catchy tunes.
  3. I love love love it, I think more people should check it out on here, judging from most peoples tastes people will dig it vert much I believe.
  4. I've said this in like two other threads already but I will be attending the Toronto show at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, which is a super nice venue so I am pretty damn excited. Also here's to hoping for Loney, Dear opening on some more dates that would make these shows even better!
  5. Dunno if there was already a thread but it has leaked and it is preeeetty rockin' so let's hear what you guys think! 6. Yeah I downloaded this a couple weeks ago, good stufffff and I agree if you are friends of either band/guy check this out.
  7. I got tickets for Toronto instead of Ann Arbor, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre is soooo nice.
  8. I actually think this record is really really good, it's so intricate it takes tons and tons of listens and I also just got tickets to see him in Toronto in April, fun fun!
  9. It's standard tuning Capo 2nd, basically Am the whole tune with the odd Em. I think the riff you're talking about is this one. (While strumming) e --------------------------- b -------------------------- g ------------------------- d--------------2--0-0h2-- a -----0h3-0-------------- e 0h3---------------------- You sort of get the point, he's basically playing any sort of possible inversion or little riff you can do with an Am chord throughout the whole tune.
  10. Harvest Moon and Prairie Wind are my favorites, very similar sort of sound but whatever good tunes all around, the DVD certainly helped me love them that much more as well.
  11. Whatever I am pretty glad this thread is not up to 948 pages!
  12. Hey lizish, Bon Iver has nothing on the Wooden Sky this was self released in 2006! It was on my best of list then too!
  13. That is one hell of a story, glad you had fun!
  14. The British music magazines seems to really love it and is really high on their end of the year lists, I downloaded it but have yet to listen to it yet.
  15. It certainly hasn't hit me over the head yet like most of us here but I think it has all the components of being a grower as time goes on, lots and lots of layers to flesh through and seems like the tunes are there, just a bit hidden by that.
  16. If they loved everything they did in the past there wouldn't be much of a point nor motivation to keep on writing and recording new records.
  17. Ouuuu just finished downloading!
  18. K here's my final list, I added 11 because of Bon Iver, I heard it in 2007 like most of us on here thanks to Solace, but every other best of list has it in there so I will as well. 1. Hayden - In Field & Town 2. Blitzen Trapper - Furr 3. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes 4. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago 5. Plants And Animals - Parc Avenue 6. Chad VanGaalen - Soft Airplane 7. Kate Maki - On High 8. Okkervil River - The Stand Ins 9. Lucinda Williams - Little Honey 10. Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - Lie Down In The Light 11. Dr. Dog - Fate Notables: Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend Sigur Ros - Me
  19. I thought I read his top 3 were at one point in time: Pink Moon The White Album John Wesley Harding I remember also reading that Bonnie 'Prince' Billy was his favorite "American songwriter" at the moment. I also remember him mentioning John Cale's Paris 1919, the Books, A Hawk And A Hacksaw, Dr. Dog, and Grizzy Bear as well.
  20. I don't mind Tokyo Police Club, they're nothing spectacular but they do know how to write a catchy tune and they have a pretty fun live show. On the other hand I am glad to see Glide gave some love to Kathleen Edwards and Plants and Animals, there has been so many good Canadian records released this year that aren't getting recognized enough on these end of the year lists.
