  1. If you enjoyed the Wilco shows we did a couple months ago, please tune into WDBX.org this Thursday August 7 for another show of all vinyl, recently or not so recently acquired fare. We will be playing small strange small label 45s as well as good old LPs and 10 inchers in the rock, blues, country, R&B, early American, jazz, soul, rock and roll and other genres. It is also a fundraiser for WDBX.org a small community radio station which has run into some financial trouble. Call in and we will mention you on the air (cheap thrill.) Also call in and bug Rosie about posting the two Wilco s
  2. Indeed. This generation is leaving us. LouieB
  3. Yup "Royal Albert" is a must have. LouieB
  4. Another great rock bio is Maryann Faithful's autobiography. LouieB
  5. Should be fun residency. Anyone in NYC going? LouieB
  6. One of the best bios of recent years is Patti Smith's autobiography "Just Kids". Highly recommended. LouieB
  7. The Miles bio is a classic, if not completely accurate. I have read lots of musician auto/bios. Generally the jazz ones are better than the rock ones. LouieB
  8. Very sad, but at least she has thrown it over to CDbaby. LouieB
  9. Bootleg 1-3 is certainly worth having. Not so much Under the Red Sky. LouieB
  10. I saw Chef too. It was also better than I was expecting. LouieB
  11. I bet the other band members are happy, LouieB
  12. Boyhood was a very good movie. And I was unaware Jeff's music was in the film so that was nice too. A touch long however. LouieB
  13. I saw it. I was unaware that Jeff's music was featured in the film so it came as a nice surprise. Good movie. I am surprised this isn't its own thread actually. LouieB
  14. Having sat in the rain for Emmylou who was essentially opening for Nickel Creek, I am pretty sure she was paid less than Jeff. Clearly Tweedy was a pretty big draw compared to her, for better or worse. LouieB
  15. Yea, some of these cuts knocked around back in the day. I am not sure any of it will illuminate Hendrix's career however. LouieB
  16. Self Portrait is hardly one of the worst albums of all time, but it was the worst album of Dylan's career up to that point (he bested himself on other outings.) The outtakes recently released with the New Morning outtakes is interesting as has been discussed here. LouieB
  17. Progressive Blues Experiment was one of the first albums I ever bought way way back. Very sad news. He was a great talent. LouieB
  18. I guess I have to go to Europe to see Jeff solo since he got rained out in Chicago. Hoping they reschedule that one, ,but who knows. (Riot fest?? Hideout Block Party??) LouieB
  19. Alt-country is really not the same as Americana or roots music; it is a subset of both of those I think, but why argue. LouieB
  20. This is sad. I saw Hayden several times including with Keith Jarrett back in the 70s. He made an interesting CD of traditional American music recently too. (Mentioned above.) LouieB
  21. Wow, that's harsh. Was thinking of getting this for the novelty factor but maybe not. LouieB
  22. There are still tickets for tomorrow's show. Unfortunately the weather seems to be in question. But step right up. LouieB
