  1. Lucas?! No way! Ever since he showed up in that military school uniform, for whatever reason, just looking at him annoys me. Hey, remember when Shawn-Douglas was deaf? (Um, hope your birthday was good.)
  2. Ha, though it might have been fitting for Wisconsin, I wouldn't really call it a polka-like funky song. I really, really suck at describing songs, but Glenn does some odd drum things (the kind of things we love him for) ... anyway, Heidi, you're probably the only one who might find this useful but it was the "Cat Power" song we heard a muffled soundcheck version of in Latrobe. Actually, I believe that was The Kingpin, named by Nels. Maudie, we were wishing you were there. We had to settle for celebrating the honorary Midwestern version of your birthday in your absence.
  3. Just something quick before I fall asleep (like Paul and Evonne in my living room right now!) but I had so much fun tonight. It was an excellent show with a lot of goofy fun moments (and some sweet moments too). Major congratulations to John and his wife. And "Impossible Germany" is such a beautiful song, which I realized all over again tonight. I never thought I'd see Wilco play the Barrymore, so this was amazingly cool for me. (Really neat poster, too.) I'm thrilled that some out-of-towners made it, and gave me the chance to finally host rock tourists in my very own city! I hope you h
  4. Happiest of birthdays, my dear! I just saw you a few days ago and I miss you already! Best of luck with the boxed feasts.
  5. Who Were You Thinkin' Of!! Really, though, I'm not picky. I don't know about any formal gathering, but I'll be at the show.
  6. Well, that's really a bit of an understatement. Either that, or John knows about a secret warp tunnel between Madison and Chicago that he needs to tell me about right now.
  7. I agree! And hey, I was a little over two weeks late too, and look how I turned out.
  8. Thank you guys so much! (Jen - your efforts on Jordan's behalf deserve special commendation. ) I'm having an excellent day so far - Uyen and I finally ate at Eat-a-Pita, and the McCormicks are here and I'll see Evonne later and we're all going to Largo tonight! So all of your well wishes seem to be working excellently.
  9. A year or two after the trial is when my sister was in law school. Johnny Cochran came in and spoke to one of her classes. I don't remember specifically what my sister told us about it, but I definitely remember that he heavily, wink-wink-nudge-nudge style, implied that O.J. had been - if not the sole responsible party - extremely involved. Not that it would have been any big surprise, obviously. But man.
  10. That's a shame, but at least the Decemberists don't normally (Jen - ) play really long shows anyway. I saw their show in Chicago on Saturday, which was much fun, and apparently the last one before Colin got sick.
  11. Lou, I got the feeling that the "earnest" thing was just part of the first band's schtick. Anyway, it was an excellent night. Thanks for posting that Trib article.
  12. At least it's looking a little closer than the original prediction.
  13. I believe I will see you guys at the Hideout this Friday.
  14. Randomly: the acoustics at Red Rocks are such that from the women's bathroom, you can hear things (at least, last-minute soundcheck type things) going in the bowels of backstage. Ah, Red Rocks.
  15. Hey, I think I met that friend of Hannah's last month!
  16. Oh, I knew this would get awkward. Wait, my secret Iggy Pop group can have an unlimited number of members. You're in!
  17. Um, right, I already have my secret Iggy Pop group together.
  18. 19. Happy birthday, Rob! It was nice seeing you guys, however briefly, in PA!
  20. Yeah. Detholz! are opening in Madison. I was thinking, the Barrymore almost kind of makes sense as a venue for the night before Thanksgiving? Maybe? I don't know, but I'll bet a lot of people (as we've seen) have plans or are traveling.
  21. Come! We'll get someone to wear a Skyflynn mask.
