  1. When this was first published, Jeff Tweedy tweeted "With all due respect, I didn't see any of this shit coming"
  2. I ordered the orange vinyl but frankly I don't care if it's delayed a bit. I actually wrote back to Kung Fu to let them know that if they were looking for people who didn't mind a delay they could add my name to that list. I probably won't get around to listening to it on a turntable for a little while.
  3. I love that line too, but I always relate it to the experience of listening to music, particularly in a live concert setting. Half of it is what the artist is putting out and the other half is how the audience is receiving it. When we talk about memorable vs. less than ideal shows, I think a bad crowd can kill even the best effort from the artist, while a show with flubs and imperfect sound can be transcendent when you get that special audience connection, when it seems like we're all one big family.
  4. For the man who's given me more musical memories than I can count, but I know it's at least 49, one for every year you've been on the earth. Keep on confounding and delighting us for many more.
  5. It'll resurface at some point. W hat I'd love to hear was the next nights performance in that small secluded theater.. It looks like maybe nobody recorded it, which would have been a shame.
  6. That would be a great request for a Jeff solo show at the Vic, wouldn't it? There's no reasonable way to make a request of the whole band for an obscurity like this unless it was for something special like the Solid Sound covers show.
  7. For the December 2014 residency shows in Chicago there were different posters for all 6 nights, so I would bet there will be 5 different posters for the Fillmore shows. Of course, I assume there'll also be the free small poster from the Fillmore directly, which is cool to have.
  8. But nooo! They gave us a booster shot in the arm!
  9. Kurt Vile is really good. I've seen him a couple of times and it's always an enjoyable show. I think he'll be a great opener for Wilco.
  10. You should go, Eric. I can tell you're itching for a fight, and I'll bet you wouldn't have any trouble finding one there!
  11. We found out about the Red Wing boots and the Nudie jeans via the Tweedy tour of Chicago. Shocking that there's no attribution for the eyewear!
  12. I think it's a single link that lets you into the whole presentation . It's narrative commentary interspersed with interviews and some arresting visuals.
  13. When the page first opens, just click on the link that says Explore Chicago.
  14. It's happening. According to Tony Margherita on Twitter, they'll be announcing dates in September.
  15. Mass MoCA just shared a post from Dinosaur Jr extolling the virtues of the Berkshires and western Mass. And at one of the past Solid Sounds--maybe 2013?--J Mascis was seen walking around the festival grounds.
  16. Dammit Dave, I'm really sorry to hear this. It's happened to me too, more than once, and it sucks on so many levels.
  17. A couple of weeks ago I tweeted to various people including Tony Margherita that the natives were growing restless about a Solid Sound 2017 announcement. I just got a response from Tony himself, saying that there would be an announcement in September!! It's definitely on, he said, but they're not quite ready to "go public" with dates yet, since they're still working out some scheduling details. Umm, Via Chicago is no more public than Twitter, right??? Thrilled to get reassurance!
  18. It was such a masterful speech, hitting on every important point that need to be addressed, but with appropriate lead-in so that you simply couldn't reasonably disagree. It's not just his words, it's their timing and his delivery. I was taken aback when they cut to an audience shot of Bernie right after Obama's statement about "If you agree that there's too much inequlity in our economy, and too much money in our politics, we all need to be as vocal and as organized and as persistent as Bernie Sanders' supporters have been during this election. We all need to get out and vote for Democrats up
  19. My favorite short speech of the night was Sarah Silverman's with Al Franken. It was real and heartfelt and ended with what seemed to be an impromptu exhortation to the Bernie or Bust people: "You're being ridiculous!"
  20. Oh wow! Wilco, I love you when you drop a surprise on us, but I really, really love you when you give us the chance to do a little sleuthing and participate in the unraveling of the surprise. Can't wait!!
  21. I vividly recall the Cuban missile crisis. My dad was worried about being attacked and was seriously considering building a bomb shelter. I remember having overwrought discussions with friends about who we'd let into our bomb shelter and what kinds of food we'd stock it with.
  22. In the meantime, if you just want to hear some recent shows (not download) go to sooutoftune.org.
  23. Regardless of whether Planned Parenthood was an ideal venue for her to be speaking at so soon after sewing up the nomination, candidates make commitments for speaking engagements probably months in advance. It would have been a weaselly move to have backed out at the last minute. And besides, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Planned Parenthood. People who would jump all over her for that wouldn't likely be her supporters anyway. You can't please everyone.
