Wait, Tim, does this photo mean that Tweedy does not demand that you surrender ownership of your photos, and give them a one-time use for anything without recompense to you? An enlightened band! -
Wilco shows announced for September

Hooray for folks in Ohio! They should be rewarded, as they appear to now have the honor/burden of selecting our President every four years. A couple of Wilco shows should help the citizens of Ohio as they make their preparations for the endless 2016 campaign. -
^^^^That looks good. I am finishing this:

It sure did seem like the band found the venue and the vibe a bit different. Jeff said as much early on. The crowds there are unique - everyone from local families, local senior citizens (of which there are many in Maine), tourists who have no idea who the band is but, hey, they were buying some camping gear or a kayak, and hey, why not stay and watch the band?, rabid fans of the particular band, high school kids looking for something free to do on a Saturday night, etc. It is in a weird spot, this small park in between two good size retail stores and a parking lot behind. Speaking of the pa -

I did not hear the two guys behind us, but one of our group did. I guess a couple came in during the show and stood next to the soundboard, in front of folks who were seated there. A guy sitting behind them got in the guys face about coming in the middle of the show and blocking everyone's view. It is pretty well known at these shows that the lawn area is for people who come the night before at midnight to set up chairs (or those who come early on the morning of the show). In fact, the LL Bean ushers do not generally let people into the lawn area unless they already have seats set up. A frie -

Jeff introduced Love Like a Wire as a cover, written by the late Diane Izzo, a singer-songwriter from Chicago. He said that she was no longer with us, but this song is. It was a good one. No idea if it is on Sukierae; my guess is no. Speaking of Sukierae, the guy who introduced Tweedy in Freeport mangled the pronunciation of it - he called it Sunkenray or something close to that. It was worth a chuckle. -

I am Trying to Break Your Heart was the first song of the solo set. This is close to the order, but probably not exact: I am Trying to Break Your Heart New Madrid Passenger Side We've Been Had Pecan Pie Hummingbird Born Alone Hesitating Beauty Jesus, etc. I'm the Man Who Loves You Hey last cigarettes, we were sitting right in front of you. My friend is the one who got the setlist that you photographed. Glad you got that spot - the sound was excellent right there in the middle in front of the soundboard. Loads of funny banter. More on that later. -
TWEEDY — 7/25/14, Portsmouth, NH (The Music Hall)

Phenomenal venue! Loved the Music Hall. The sound was fantastic. Some quick thoughts: -Only the Lord Knows was rockin. A surprise for sure. Jeff made a comment after the song that he does not have a deacon. That was quite funny. -I enjoyed the new songs. I have listened to each of the streamed songs once, so I had some knowledge of a few, but not much exposure to them. Honey Combed stood out for me, as did High As Hello and Nobody Dies. -We had a "balcony cult" for the sing-along on Slow Love, as folks in the balcony yelled the most when Jeff asked if we wanted to start a cult. -Jeff -

The bass player is an engineer/producer. He's worked with Ryan Adams for 8-9 years. Ryan said on stage that they could not find a bass player for the tour. He happened to ask Charlie if he played any instruments, and the guy said he played bass. They had him play on a few songs in the studio, and viola - the guy is the bass player for the tour. They said it was the first time he had ever played in front of an audience. The guy played fine. The other 3 guys were really good, particularly the keyboardist. DRA played many of the solos, which I liked. I realize this is heresy to some, but I pref -

He played a few songs from 1984 at the first show of the tour tonight. They are fast, loud, and short. Good stuff. -
Saw Ryan Adams this evening. He was in good humor, with tons of banter. And it was a rock show - pretty heavy in spots. For me, the only negative was a lack of songs from his Whiskeytown and early solo period.

Saw that Saturday night in Portland, ME - very good show; only downside - it was on the shorter side.
-
Love his song Still Alive and Well - one of my favorite guitar riffs. Just wish he was still alive and well. RIP.

If I remember correctly, I saw Ethan Hawke at a Wilco show at Town Hall in NYC in the late 90s. He was about 20 rows behind us - spotted him on the way out.

This is great. It's no Garp or Cymbeline, but I'd recommend it wholeheartedly.

Brutal case of campylobacter from an undercooked chicken sandwich I ate at a Vermont ski resort in the winter of 1994. I spent a day with viscious cramps and the runs in Vermont (and not ski runs, alas), and then a friend drove me back to my then home in CT the next day, cutting my vacation short. Once home, it got worse - the cramping was just awful - and I ended up dehydrated and in the ER two days later. Truly thought I might die. Gladly (?!) provided the hospital folks a little stool sample (ok, a lot of stool sample), and got it diagnosed as campylobacter. Medication to slow my digestive

Ryan Adams announces tour, with a stop in my neck of the woods. After watching him be a petulant dink (dink is a Maine word for jerk) the last two times I saw him live, I figured I'd never see him in concert again. Then a good friend calls and says he has a ticket for me. Looks like I'll see if DRA will be a dink 3 times in a row. -
He also plays tambourine when the band covers Daft Punk. So we know he's versatile.
