I figured I would share this here. I have to turn it in tomorrow and read it aloud in my Creative Writing class. Thought some of you might like to read it. Thanks Sarah “He Almost Killed Me Dead” It was a typical, rainy and grey November day in 1999. I had been summoned to the main office of Soddy-Daisy Middle School for a mysterious early afternoon pick up. As I waited for my mother, I mulled over the reasons for my early departure.I fidgeted in the plastic waiting room chair. It wasn’t the dentist. I ran my tongue over the braces on my top teeth. It wasn’t a doctor’s appointment. I

Excellent! Thanks so much!

I remember going to the store and getting it the day it came out. It was one of those rare times my mom took me to the mall on a school night. Can't believe that was 10 years ago... the songs are so timeless.

If anybody wants to tune in, Rosie (TweedyzGirl) is doing a tribute to Levon right now. http://www.wdbx.org/

He doesn't seem too happy to be on Letterman... I love the Beatles.

It depends, also, what seats in the venue you are occupying. I got vulgar slurs yelled at me in the Obstructed View section of the Ryman balcony back in the fall. Sort of ruined the show for me. Hope the crowds are nicer where you see them.

I hope somebody posts who is going and/or who went. It's always interesting to read the set list.

It does seem a bit to "slow", doesn't it? That was my chief complaint about it when I listened to the stream on NPR.

Wow, that was a fast response: Hi Sarah, Thanks for contacting Front Gate Tickets! We have not received the ticket stock for this particular show. As soon as we do, your order will ship via UPS and a tracking number will be sent to your e-mail with further tracking details. If you do not have your tickets at least 72 hours prior to the event, please contact us. Thanks, Greg

Working on an email now. I like to be overly polite in emails to companies about things I bought. It works better than being an ass hat about 85% of the time.
-
I don't know. I've only ever used them once a couple years ago.
-
Has anyone gotten the tickets for any of the upcoming shows in the mail yet? Anxiously awaiting my 2 for B-ham on May 11. Just curious if I should contact Frontgate about it yet, or wait.

End of argument here. Most perfect piece of 70's music.

What a fun night! Oh man, it was really great. I for one, loved, the theatrics. The people in full body leotards where hilarious, and the music was great. My sister actually ended up getting to see them the next night in Atlanta. Kishi Bashi was awesome too.

Nice to hear. I'm looking forward to Kishi. I knew of him before I knew he was in with Of Montreal because he did strings on the road for Sondre Lerche (who I'm a little bit obsessed with). I've listened to his EP and really enjoy it. Can't wait to see it live. Of Montreal is my sister's favorite band, and they played a free outdoor thing here years ago. After the show I was able to get Kevin Barnes' autograph for my sister. She didn't think much of them then, but now is all about them. It will be fun to get to go with her to her favorite band's show. It'll be interesting to see the tables

what rockplast? where? -
Last time I talked to him I was chilling by the bus around the time of soundcheck (it was 3-4pm). Also gave the tip to hang by the bus around that time to a kid whom I'd met the day before who was a huge fan, and that night after the show he shook my hand, said he'd met Jeff, and could cross that one off his bucket list. One of the highlights of the trip was helping that kid.

I love Patrick Park, thanks to you, Donna! He write really good songs.
-
The first thing I ever said to Jeff was: "I saved you the Diet Coke in the cooler" The second was: "When I was 14 I jumped off my amps just like you used to!" Both made him laugh. I always forget to ask him things I think of. Maybe I should make a list for Birmingham...

I bug the venue that brought the Avetts to town back in December nearly every day about bringing Wilco.

I didn't even ask my husband before I bough it, I figure I can ask forgiveness when it comes and is in a snazzy new frame.

Finally snagged the one from my very first show! After years of searching for it!

What was/is your favorite decade for music?
SarahC replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
The late 90's boy band stuff is gold... I really like late 70's which bleeds into early 80's for the post-punk movement, but when it comes to overall consistency of records I listen to repeatedly, I say that it's from 1965-1975. Golden era for my ears. -
I heard a rumor they're going to play in Chattanooga... (I also started that rumor)
