RIP Dickie Betts

Yeah -- made 80. Good on 'em. That last decade has not been great for him - health wise.    Was such a great, great player with a beautiful tone. Songwriting skills were there, too.

Here is the most popular question that people sent in. Many folks wanted to know if there is another Allman Brothers Band studio album in the works?

No, there isn’t and I don’t think we’ll see one. That’s just never been one of the strengths of the Allman Brothers Band. I don’t think we’ve really been ever able to use the studio to great effect. Not only do the versions of the songs fall a bit flat but it hasn’t been cost effective for us, especially in this day and age.

However, what we do record every show and we have new material that we’ve written since Hittin’ The Note. Oteil has his song “Egypt,” and Derek has a song so new it doesn’t even have a name yet. So what I would expect we’ll do, is once we have an album worth of material, we’ll put together the best versions from the live recordings and release that.

I don't know. Eat a Peach is pretty great.

I like that album also. The same with Brothers and Sisters. After that, it is sort of sketchy.

I was watching some Black Crowes Cabin Fever videos on Youtube yesterday and noticed Luther was channeling Duane somewhat. Pretty cool.

Our band did Southbound, Dreams, and Melissa at the last gig and the crowd loved it. I love me some Allman Brothers.

I have a really great live version of Dreams done by The Black Crowes and Jimmy Herring.

Oooh, I would like to hear that!

I am going out of town over the next few days. I may get to it tonight - if I have time.

I am going to dig around on Crowesbase and see if I can figure out the date.

I don't think it is the version from the Cover Me With A Good Dream compilation.

I think it may be from this show:

14 March 2006 - Fox Theater - Atlanta, GA

Crowesbase gave me 79 shows when I searched. Of course, not all of them feature Jimmy Herring.

Ok - I don't know if this is the same version that is on the covers compilation or not. To me they sound different. This one is about 50 seconds longer. I ripped this from WAV to FLAC from a cd I have called "Various Black Crowes Songs".

I'm not sure I have heard anything by Molly Hatchet other than Dreams and Flirting with Disaster. Really have not heard much by Marshall Tucker either (other than the usual radio suspects) despite being called Marshall Tucker by people all my life (same first name and all).
