Oil Can Boyd
Saw this another site but here is the New York Times' original review of Abbey Road (which concludes "As it stands, Abbey Road isn't tremendous. Still, it has 15 fine minutes and, by rock standards, that's a lot.") http://www.nytimes.com/library/music/100569lennon-beat.html

choo-choo-charlie
Um, that's somewhat of a glaring error. This also made me laugh: "two songs by George Harrison, mediocrity incarnate..." considering "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun" are considered by many critics to be Harrison's first works that were on par with Lennon and McCartney. On the 50th anniversary of that 12-hour session at Abbey Road, leading artists attempt the same feat, in the same timescale, in the same studio.Acclaimed guitarist Graham Coxon, Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford from Squeeze and Manchester’s I Am Kloot join soul sensation Joss Stone, The Stereophonics, Gabrielle Aplin and Mick Hucknall for the event. The results are broadcast live in exact recording order and timing, as Abbey Road links up with Western House throughout the day on Radio 2, on Monday 11th February 2013. The event will then be broadcast on BBC Four at the end of that week in an hour long special.Radio 2 Live blog: Everything on the day will happen here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p014q0lb/liveFACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/BBCR2?rf=110878595600131

Kim Bodnia
RUTHERFORD CHANG – WE BUY WHITE ALBUMS Posted by Eilon Paz on Friday, February 15, 2013 · 101 Comments Rutherford has a unique vinyl collection. He only collects the Beatles first pressing of The White Album. I met him in Recess gallery where he exhibits his collection. In this show Chang is creating a record store that stocks only White Albums. But rather than selling the albums, he buys more from anyone willing to part with an original pressing in any condition. http://www.dustandgrooves.com/rutherford-chang-we-buy-white-albums/
bigideas
Interesting story.Won't some of them be Mono and some Stereo? The two mixes are pretty radically different for some songs."Blisters on me fingers!" is only on the Stereo version, and other stuff like that. Shug
http://www.meetles.com/ I heard this band play Love Me Do in the NYC subway this past weekend. I was impressed with how much they sounded just like the record, I mean they really nailed it. Lots of fun to come across randomly!
choo-choo-charlie
Let it Be...Naked is out digitally today. The Beatles Facebook page created a "digital scavenger hunt" for people to find four different video clips from the film to "unlock" the trailer for the digital album. http://libntrail.thebeatles.com/

Analogman
Those parts were added in - when dvds of the documentary came out. I never bought the dvds. I still have the videos I made by way of the original broadcast.
Magnetized
Personally never seen this before. Some lovely moments.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6zGgF2QPdo I just loved watching that. It's good to see how relaxed and at ease with himself and the others George Harrison was, and just generally they all seemed to be having a good time reminiscing. Analogman
My favorite Beatles movie: Help! Comes to Blu-Ray (I have to wonder why Billboard used a Sgt. Pepper photo instead of a Help! era photo.)
Moss
Wow, $408,000 for this guitar. The Beatles memorabilia is still a good investment. I'm a guitar guy and this one did not jump right out at me as being familiar: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-22586301
Analogman
I don't recall seeing it in the Beatles gear book. (It is in the book - page 209. It's called a Kensington.) Edited May 19, 2013 by Analogman

Analogman
I think there's a George Harrison quote out there somewhere - possibly in that Rolling Stone issue devoted to his guitar collection - where he talks about such things. I think he said something like "I see guitars I may have held for 30 seconds being sold as a Beatles guitar by someone I don't know for lots of money". Magic Alex was quite the con man. choo-choo-charlie
I'd never heard of Magic Alex until I read Geoff Emerick's book...what a con man indeed.
Analogman
He's in the Beatles documentary. I forget where exactly, but I think Ringo tells a few stories about him. He is also the reason they almost bought that island in Greece. Alexis Mardas
