linclink
Personally, for me it'll be... 1) Camden, N.J.- July 21st2) Brooklyn, N.Y.- July 23rd3) Brooklyn, N.Y.- July 24th4) Cooperstown, N.Y.- July 28th5) North Adams/Mass MoCA- July 31st6) Hartford, CT- August 1st7) Rochester, N.Y.- August 3rd I saw someone else did this, so now (I'm adding this the day after my original post), I'd ask what # shows these are for you? Nice if you can add the details of which tour, how many times a tour & if you can that far- the locations for the shows...for some this could be a rather long & detailed list...as one person has already mentioned that the 3 shows they are seeing this tour represent #26-28 for them.I saw them for the first time in Detroit last December. I was so blown away & am so crazy about "The Whole Love", which they feature liberal amounts of, that I decided to go as whole hog as I could & try to hit as many shows within a 6 hour radius as I comfortably could.Soooooo...these are shows #2 through #8 for me. All Hail Kong, King Of The 2012 Tour Dates!! Note the variation of locations (New England, to Virginia, to Colorado, & Florida)...North, South, East & West...most miles logged, widest variation of dates chronologically as well as geographically, & the biggest enchilada- most gigs gone to, with 9!!! And note that that includes two double shows/two nighters with Wolf Trap & Red Rocks & also a three nights/3 shows in a row run 7/17-19!! I say go for the two night stand in NYC & break double digits!! And I must ask why no Miami Beach on 5/15, when you're going to Tampa 5/16 & St. Augustine on 5/17? I find it real interesting that people keep track of all that, I guess if I've only seen a band once or twice I might remember. When I first started going to Dead shows I noticed a lot of people kept track, I actually did for a while but when I passed 100 I gave up, I had friends who were doing their 400th and 500th shows and I'd figured I never get there so why bother. At this point I'm so old (and slightly burnt) I have no idea, hell people will be talking about a show I had no recollection going to then point out I was sitting with them or some obscure song was played, then a light bulb lights, "oh, ya, I remember that now". I'm sure I have most of my ticket stubs, and I certainly taped my fair share of shows, but to come up with a list of all the shows I've seen, that's not going to happen. As a side note I'll point out I was a professional live sound engineer for many years, I worked with a lot of bands, and I saw a lot of bands that were on the same bill, so maybe I'm just not the typical concert goer. It all rolls into one... Or as Neil Young said in Hartford one year "It's all one song!"
Lukestar
CooperstownRochester, NY Shows #14-15 Abbreviated run down....once at Massey Hall on this tour, "evening with" tour in Scranton, opening for Neil at MSG, a glorious hometown show here in Rochester (first time played), Ryman Aud on Sky Blue Sky tour, Radio City, the two Chicago Aud shows closing out YHF tour (where Nels played as a guest on Handshake Drugs about 10ft. in front of me). I recall the 5 others sprinkled throughout and I actually do have individual memories of each. Always a great show.

I say go for the two night stand in NYC & break double digits!! And I must ask why no Miami Beach on 5/15, when you're going to Tampa 5/16 & St. Augustine on 5/17? Yes, when I look at it all laid out like this, I realize it seems to verge on insanity. The list didn't even include the 2 Tweedy benefit solo shows in Chicago at the end of March. So, that's 11 through the end of the summer. No, I will NOT be adding any more. . . unless they're practically in my backyard! As I mentioned in a different thread, I probably wouldn't have done all of these if I had known about all the dates at once. Instead, since they trickled out over time, I kept grabbing up shows that looked doable as part of a mini-vacation/road trip, and the geographical location did have something to do with it, as well as the wishes of my varied show companions. We're skipping Miami, for instance, because it's really quite a schlep from Tampa to Miami then back up to St. Augustine, where my friend lives. And I want to do some touristy things in St. Augustine, where I've never visited, on the day off. Red Rocks--never been there, always wanted to go, so with Wilco back to back and that cool weekend package deal, plus a really bargain airfare, and a new Wilco friend to go with, I was in. Same with the Mass MoCA and Hartford shows--Mass MoCA for old time's sake and Hartford because it's really nuts to go all the way from VA to the Berkshires for one show. And yet another companionable fellow traveler for these shows. So I really thought that was it--until they announced Wolf Trap and Charlottesville, which are just a short drive up the road and where I have friends and a free place to say. So those will just cost me the price of gas and the show tickets. So that's my story. I have been to see them many times before over the years, but only obsessively for the last couple of years. The Evening With shows in the spring of 2010, capped off with the first Solid Sound, really sealed the deal for me. Since then, there really hasn't been any other band I'm seriously interested in for long. I can only handle one crazy obsession at a time.

As for the long break between my first show and the next, I really didn't get into Wilco until Nels and Pat joined. That Memphis show was super cold, I didn't like the lineup, and I was just not into it. I forget what it was that made me watch it, but once I watched Ashes Of American Flags in 2010, I was hooked. The Aspen show was really really good, I could not believe how hard they rocked at the end. They played my request of Kingpin, I was stoked, of course!
