Not sure what the "removal" actually means, if true.

NoJ
It means anything to distract the press and public from pushing for a special investigator with subpoena powers to determine how deep the ties are between this administration and the Russians.
KevinG
Oh my God this administration. Just recently, the President defends Bill O'Riley, accuses Susan Rice of criminal activity (with no evidence), and blames Obama for the Syrian chemical attack. All the while, Gorsuch fight is looming, The President's approval numbers are in the tank, nearly every major intitative taken up has failed and the specter of Russia is ever growing. I know there are some people on this board, who do or did support the President and voted for him. Where are they now? What do they think now. What a freaking mess.

ih8music
And just over 1/3 of the country still supports him. It's maddening. That's a historically low approval number, though. I don't think it's possible for it to get much lower. edit: had to check... http://ijr.com/2014/08/166936-president-approval-rating-absolute-highest-lowest-post-world-war-ii/

KevinG
r Yea, where are they? Not here apparently. LouieB It honestly is a shame. As much as I disagreed with their opinions I did value their input. Often times we get to insular and become an echo chamber of our own ideas. But on the flip side I would also like to hear from those supporters, what is the president doing right? Do they see the same issues as the rest of do? What about the Dems? Are they at all justified. And what I am most sad about is the loss of Hixter, whom I butted heads with on numerous occasions. If memories serves he was very anti-Russia and saw them as a huge problem. I really wonder if he sees the administration's apparent ties to Russia as troubling or a just a bunch of media nonsense. Alas, he is more than likely gone for good.

NoJ
It appears my friendship with a old college buddy who supports trump is about over. I didn't want to engage him on specifics but he kept on needling me. When he texted me yesterday, crowing about Susan Rice's "crimes", I engaged, much to his dismay. God, these supporters are so effing stupid. I really did try to take the high road with this guy out of respect for good, old times.

NoJ
Her actions were well within the scope of her job. Its nothing but a distraction. Why aren't his supporters asking why so many people within his administration are in communication with Russians? That's the story.

lost highway
Well we started with Syria - hopefully the administration is able to keep things in check in the aftermath. Well this is hard for me. I really hate Al-Assad. That man is a piece of garbage, and I was kind of rooting for the revolutionaries to overcome their oppressors, but in reality nothing can be that simple, especially in the middle east. It doesn't take too long a memory to recall another middle-east dictator who used chemical weapons on his people and we thought the president could take unilateral action on his military.... etc. etc.

I suppose one difference is that Syria is already in the chaos Iraq was after our invasion.
calvino
I can't fault going after Syria, after the chemical warfare episode - I am just gravely scared on who is in charge of running this for the U.S.and quite frankly I still can't believe it. This is what I was most afraid off when he won the election and was worrying that he was going to get us killed. Aslo, I see an anti-David Brooks tweet in the near future... https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/07/opinion/the-coming-incompetence-crisis.html a few nuggets: "I just read that the Trump administration has filled only 22 of the 553 key positions that require Senate confirmation. This makes me worry that the administration will not have enough manpower to produce the same volume and standard of incompetence that we’ve come to expect so far. Granted, in its first few months the administration has produced an impressive amount of ineptitude with very few people. On his worst days Sean Spicer can produce more errors than 10 normal men on their best days. Kellyanne Conway can flail her way through television confrontations 24/7 and still have the stamina to lose to the Teletubbies on Saturday morning." "Now I’m not underestimating the president’s own capacity for carrying on in an incompetent manner almost indefinitely. I don’t think we’ve reached peak Trump." "So I hope the Trump team learns to delegate — carelessness in one office, backbiting in another. I hope the president continues to play golf (I don’t get those progressive critics who say Trump is ruining the world and then they complain because he takes time off). I hope his team continues to take advantage of the fact that it takes only one inexperienced stooge to undo the accomplishments of 100 normal workers."
Sir Stewart
It appears my friendship with a old college buddy who supports trump is about over. I didn't want to engage him on specifics but he kept on needling me. When he texted me yesterday, crowing about Susan Rice's "crimes", I engaged, much to his dismay. God, these supporters are so effing stupid. I really did try to take the high road with this guy out of respect for good, old times. Back in January I sent an email the weekend the Muslim Ban v1 was rolled out, to my many extended family members (by replying to an ongoing thread usually reserved for family event planning), hotheadedly demanding to know if they really support a white supremacist being on the NSC (it was the same weekend Bannon was elevated). I received a handful of angry reply-alls from uncles, aunts and cousins, including such gems as "we're on the Trump Train to victory!" and (believe it or not) "LGBTQ for Trump!" One uncle even replied and sent a followup email simply stating "Pussy" in the subject header with no content. But it was my sister who went above and beyond, by replying-all admonishing me for "choosing politics over family!" and also sending another email to the thread, removing my address (but not realizing my wife was on the chain), and apologizing to everybody for my email. I called her on it privately, and she stopped writing after a short back-and-forth wherein I went off on Trump. After cooling off, I replied to everybody separately (except that uncle, fuck his ass forever) and also replied all, admitting I was over-the-top in my original email. I even wrote to the LGBTQTrump cousin, who had replied-all with a lengthy screed full of vitriol directed at me, hurling highly incorrect cliched insults at me ("typical liberal with no job sucking off the teet of dead soldiers like my wife's brother" - real unhinged stuff that made it clear she does not know me at all).Since then my sisters will not speak to me, and although I got support from a couple of folks (my aunt and her daughter, who are great, and another aunt who is a Trump supporter but applauded my conciliatory note), I doubt I'll be attending any family functions anytime in the near or far future.Sometimes I wish I hadn't sent the email, but like my wife says, if I didn't do it then, I would've by now over one of a thousand other things Trump has done.It sucks, but fuck it, there are more ridiculous things for families to shun each other over. ih8music
I had a similar run-in with an uncle in 2007 over "that muslim terrorist obama." A decade later, our relationship still hasn't recovered. Not for lack of trying on my part, though... Best of luck, stew.
NoJ
Yeah, that's a bummer Stewie. My buddy accused me last night of only being able to look at one side whereas he has the ability to see both sides because he watches Fox AND CNN. I reminded him again that I don't have cable or satellite and get my news via AP, Reuters, Chgo Tribune, BBC and the WSJ. He thinks there is this massive conspiracy that has poised most of the American media against 45. I said, well yeah, with good reason too. That didn't go over well.
