  1. Nice Cubs/White Sox trade today. Glad to happen to catch Quintana's last game pitching at Sox Park - he definitely pitch better than he did earlier season, but he still got a no decision. This trade should help both teams.
  2. We're just finished ep. 5 of Season 5 --- with the current state of politics, so far none of this season seems implausible. Not saying it willl get there, though. My wife and I are political hacks and use to enjoy this show, because of how implausible it was - now the show doesn't seem much of a distraction as it once was.
  3. Yeah - pretty good. Listened to some others via Spotify. Interesting stuff.
  4. This thread started on -- Posted 29 May 2012 - 09:11 PM --- guessing a search was done and this one was bumped. Looks like lamradio only had to wait 4 or 5 years for the reunion. I don' think I ever heard a Ween song.
  5. I am pretty sure at least some of those shows will be at the Owl and Bear site. https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/0B5xZV5X8KwRCTlB3MXVpVGE1NGc
  6. We planned on going this year with the family, but came up with other plans --- so I finally gotten around and bought some Roadcases - bought the run. We look forward to hear them. Starting with the last show. So far, the sound they sound is pretty good, I am up through New Madrid.
  7. My only reference to Cuban cigars is the Seinfeld episode. I figured they must be good.
  8. I am not cigar smoker - but are Cuban cigars that much better than others or is it just a 'hype' thing? - just curious.
  9. Since 95, when I go to a Dead related offshoot band - I never think to compare it to the Grateful Dead. Of course it isn't the Grateful Dead - I don't expect nor want it to be the 'Grateful Dead' --- i have plenty of tapes to listen to for that.
  10. Actually I hung with some of your Northern crew on Friday. Nice time.
  11. I was apprehensive seeing a show at Wrigley, mostly due to logistics - I agree the entire staff at Wrigley were great both nights. Very friendly.
  12. The Boston show has always been my favorite in that May 5th to May 9th Run
  13. I thought his vocals were fine this past weekend. Yeah, he definitely has lost a little punch, but for a near 70 year old - he is sounding pretty good. Now listening to 7.5.81 and he is sounding great (Saint Of Circumstance).
  14. Yeah - I don't listen to Dead & Co. boots, but seeing the band live is fun and each of the shows that I have attended (I saw 4) have been pretty great. Mayer and Oteil bring a lot of energy to the stage and their playing suits the music. Bobby has been sounding great with them, also. The whole scene around these shows has been great, too - I can't say that for various other incarnations (with Warren, etc.). But if I want to listen to these tunes at outside of a live situation - I play actual Grateful Dead shows.
  15. Ha! - I am middle of the below. Interesting book, thus far. Sadly, the above was probably going on before 45 - which probably helped get 45 elected.
  16. When I wrote the bit on Lazy Lightning, I was listing to the Go To Nassau release. I love Feel Like A Stranger. I just find Lazy Lightning a bit cheesy. 1st night at Wrigley was lot of fun. Due to a train snafu, we missed the 1st three tunes. 2nd set was definitely a good one.
  17. I enjoy Mayer's playing - for the most part - sometimes his tone bugs me a bit -- he plays a bit much with his toggle switch up -- I keep waiting for him to switch it to the down position, but he rarely does - so a lot of solo's don't have any bite. He may do this, because he wants to contrast Weir's usual, somewhat metallic tone. I enjoyed the the two times that I saw D & Co , because there was been a lot of energy coming off the stage - something that has been lacking in previous incarnations.
  18. Yeah, I noticed Bono's vox --- they fixed it after the first few songs, though.
  19. What were your thoughts? I thought their Chicago show was great, but never saw them before, so I have no perspective.
  20. Sounds like that will be a hell of a trip -- totally understand your nervous state, though -- hopefully she is not nervous.
  21. If I am remembering correctly, back in the late 90's I remember seeing Bun E. Carlos sitting in with Wilco at a show at the Riv, he did an impromptu drum solo. I can be completely wrong about that, though.
  22. by way of the hoffman board - thought is was a great pic, while at a growing operation in Colorado.
  23. A piece on Anita from Rolling Stone. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/anita-pallenberg-rolling-stones-muse-was-queen-of-underground-w488024
