  3. Sorry to re-rail the thread here... but after careful deliberation, not to mention a fair bit of peer pressure from the Winterlude crew, we've decided to go. I bought my earlybird tix yesterday, so all that's left are trivial matters like transportation and lodging. Three of us are going... myself, my wife (who isn't at all interested in the festival, but thinks that a few days in western MASS to go exploring the local sights and spa's while the other two go do festival stuff sounds pretty awesome), and my daughter (who is a college senior in arts administration and thinks that a rock fest
  4. I use my iPhone, with a free app from iHandy which is basically a digital alarm clock. You can set it to wake up to a specific song or playlist (doesn't have to be a ringtone). "Instrumental #2" from the YHF demo, which is "Let Me Come Home" without the lyrics, has been my wake up song for years. Beck's "Phase" is also really good to wake up to. I really don't care for anything harsh first thing in the morning. And lyrics would just confuse me that early.
  5. Tyler is a phenomenal guitarist. He opened for Califone a year or two ago, first time I had heard him. Good stuff. Definitely like the idea of he and Glenn together.
  6. Still spinning my favorite Christmas present. This is such a treasure trove of goodness...
  7. Has anyone ever sung a Wilco song to audition for American Idol?
  8. Wilco thing - my first Wilco show on June 30, 2005 in Louisville. The last night of the AGIB tour, and the guys were pretty wiped out. About halfway through the show, Jeff does all his "thank you's" for Stan, for all the tech's, for Andy selling T-shirts, for Jason the tour manager. Then he says "And here's the sappy part... I want to thank all my friends up here on stage... (pause... chokes up)... because a little over a year ago, it didn't look like we were gonna be touring at all any more..." (chokes up more) "...and they stood by me like nobody's ever stood by me... and I love 'em"... (
  9. Merry Christmas VC, whomever and wherever you may be...
  10. Jimmy Page is also on my list. Joe Jackson is probably the top of my bucket list currently.
  11. Thanks again to everyone in line who signed the sign on Friday night. And a special thanks to the great guys at the Loft, Mark and Tom (pictured), who got the sign to a place of prominence in the Loft for all to enjoy!!!
  12. I thought they were quite good, and a perfect opener for Wilco in Chicago. They had a cool guitar-blues-on-acid thing for the opener, and also an amped up honky tonk piece, which fit the whole atmosphere nicely. Tons of energy and intensity. Drummer wore a tie, bass player wore a beanie, and the lead guy (Jim) looked like a cross between Richard Gere and Roger Waters. All instrumental, no vocals. Good stuff.
  13. After the show there was a guy selling Wilco T-shirts for five bucks. I guess that means Wilco has hit the big time....they now have their own fake concert T's.
  14. Thank you so much Wilco! #thankyousign Everyone in line for night 6 signed it, and we held it up at the last song. Jeff smiled and nodded. Laura (white hat, above the "N") handed it to Pat after the encore, before the big bow.
  15. There was absolutely nothing ”less exciting" about night 6.
  16. yes, that would be a very welcome repeat. as would Bull Black Nova. They seem to be staying right on the printed setlists, so I guess bringing the sign back out would be pretty pointless.
  17. After careful statistical analysis of the songs played and not played, the following 12 songs (along with 18 "repeats" or "modified versions") are most likely to be played tonight: That's Not The Issue Far Far Away Was I In Your Dreams Sky Blue Sky Sonny Feeling Sunloathe Capitol City Rising Red Lung Let Me Come Home Any Major Dude Will Tell You Student Loan Stereo Unlikely Japan
  18. with 4 down and 2 to go, has anyone done a "what's left" list?
  19. "Mellow night"... I'm sure that was a much needed change of pace for everyone. Must have been a really special evening.
  20. That has turned out to be a rather prophetic list. Glad you're able to see a lot of this come true. Now that we're halfway through, and since I'm only going to night 5 and 6, here's my half-a-list of "3 Wishes for Winterlude, But Please Don't Do Any of Them on Night 4" 1. Andrew Bird, especially for Muzzle of Bees and for a balls-out version of Dreamer in my Dreams 2. Repeats are actually OK, specifically electric Spiders, Bull Black Nova, and Dark Neon 3. Susan to attend a show
