Not unexpected. But that doesn't make it any less of a bummer.

Bingo. Salty blew it. Second time in two games that the Sox have thrown it around like Little Leaguers. -

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

^^^That looks pretty good to me. Which means the above bands probably will not be the ones that get inducted. My favorite year of HoF inductees: 2006 - Black Sabbath, Blondie, Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, Miles Davis, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sex Pistols. -
Maybe a year or so from now we'll be listening to a new Wilco record....and figuring out the new ranking of Wilco albums.

That is a great record for the fall. -
The English Beat.

Me too. Family commitments plus the increased cost would make it hard to justify going.

I am so glad to read your opinion about mid-80s Dead shows. I saw them once, in April of '86, and I thought it was rough.

I love Via Chicago live, on the record, whatever.

I thought this said, "Butt crunchy white onions...." And I laughed like crazy. Because who wants butt crunchy white onions on a taco? And how crunchy is butt crunchy?

That's pretty damn cool.

He'll get neither. Maybe 8 years? Maybe 180 million? If owners are smart (and they have proven time and again not to be), the era of the 10 year/$200+ million contract is past. Has there been a 10 year deal that worked out well for a team? -

Great, great photos. You captured something unique in each performer. Love the Dave Matthews shot; heck I even like your picture of John Mellonhead. -
I agree. I thought she had a hard time maintaining momentum during her set at Solid Sound. To me, it appeared that the two minutes of sporadic banter between songs drained the energy from her show. The crowd did not seem not energized - polite applause, then quiet during the interludes. Great, great voice; less-than-great entertainer on a big stage.

And if they got 100% more food vendors. And a nap room. But I quibble. It is an awesome festival.

So, so sorry. I cannot fathom what you are going through. Sending prayers your way.

John & Laurie Stiratt Article re: Alex Chilton
The Inside of Outside replied to nalafej's topic in Just A Fan
That is a pretty cool article. Love the story about John walking into his house in Mississippi at 1 AM and seeing Alex Chilton sitting on his couch, listening to records. -
I’m so grateful for my nine years in Wilco and that all my other endeavors are completely supported by the management. I think it’s pretty unusual for a rock band not to consider itself some kind of sovereign state that has a protectionist policy and it’s been the exact opposite with Wilco the idea being that whatever you can do outside the group that enriches your life, you’re going to bring that positive stuff back to the group. There are so many ways that Jeff and Tony [Margherita, Wilco’s manager] are really smart and ahead of the curve. This makes great sense to me. For us fans, it migh

^^^^ Cool quote. My 14-year-old daughter heard Box Full of Letters in a cosmetics boutique yesterday. Freaked her right out. She did not hug anyone, though. -
Steely Dan 8/8/13 Red Rocks! Rain tastic!
The Inside of Outside replied to remphish1's topic in After The Show
Sorry to hear about the weather. What a treat, though, to see a show at Red Rocks! And a Rockies game to boot. That completes it. -
I understand this. I was not, nor am, a big follower of the Dead. I like many of their songs, and cannot think of many that I do not like. I was way underwhelmed with the only time I saw them live, in 1986. The energy was ok, the music was ok, Jerry's playing was ok. But not amazing, by any stretch. And I think I was expecting more. I look at footage from the 70s, and there appears to be a different energy and a different level of playing from what I remember of the show I attended. I realize this was only a sample of one show, but their playing that night did not do it for me.
