  1. I'm looking forward to the new M. Ward due in April.
  2. Funny, I was just debating whether it would be worth it to go see this movie just for the Wilco songs. I checked out the trailer and it didn't look all that great.
  3. Billy Bragg's voice bugs the hell out of me.
  4. I'm a fan and I agree with you about XO and Either/Or. Both incredible records. A co-worker introduced me to his music in the late 90's. I still enjoy listening to the songs today. They have a timeless quality to them.
  5. There is a difference between dancing on someone's grave and having an honest discussion about their life and work.
  6. I agree. It matters very little to me what he was like in person. That's not to say that I don't sympathize with the tragedy of someone dying too young and leaving behind a wife and children. I just think that we should be able to have an honest (and respectful) discussion of his life and the impact of his brand of journalism on society. I think the Frum & Salon articles are both honest and respectful. In my opinion, to ignore his flaws would be to ignore the man.
  7. Frum's comments were pretty mild compared to just about everything that Breitbart has said on any given subject. I don't subscribe to the "speak no ill of the dead" rule especially when it would seem like a giant omission to only speak well of someone who was such a polarizing figure. I think this Salon article is pretty much right on. http://www.salon.com/2012/03/01/what_andrew_breitbart_made_and_what_made_him/
  8. I read Sullivan daily. I think he's smart and thoughtful and I like that he will post various points of view on most topics.
  9. I don't think I've ever made it though this song without tears rolling down my face. http://youtu.be/4Yne1wHgITc Natalie Merchant - Beloved Wife
  10. We're referring to a skit on last night's episode. But to your question, they were allowed to play their own songs on SNL (a week or two ago). The Grammy's were not going to allow them to do that.
  11. I loved it too. Bonnie Bear. Heehee.
  12. I thought Jeff looked more comfortable than the interviewer did, actually.
  13. I don't blame him. They should have been able to play one of the songs that they were nominated for. That Beach Boys thing was a failure. My point was that there would have been room for more musicians to perform if they had cut some of the Foo Fighter fest. I think we saw way more than we needed to of Dave Grohl, I know I did.
  14. I don't mind the Foo Fighters (although I don't own any of their music) but it was kind of ridiculous how many times they performed on the Grammy's. The songs they played were forgettable. In my opinion, they should have made room for Bon Iver to perform one of their songs instead.
  15. Wait. Why did I have this on my calendar for tonight, Jan, 19th?
  16. I agree. Fly to Albany and rent a car. The plane / train coordination will be more trouble than it's worth, in my opinion. The Amtrak station is not convenient to the airport. Plus, there is no Amtrak station in North Adams. I think the closest is Pittsfield, so you'd still have to get to North Adams from there. I'd be ready to shoot myself at that point.
  17. I've been looking for 7/4/96 Petrillo Bandshell, Chicago. My first show. I didn't see it on your list but thought it can't hurt to ask.
  18. So incredible. Really makes me wish I was there for that. That song has always been one of my favorites. I've seen Tweedy do it live a few times solo but I've never been too crazy about that version. What a way to open a show. Just beautiful. I actually teared up watching it.

    The RTT

'tis the season This really is the best peanut brittle ever. Old Fashioned Peanut Brittle Ingredients: 3 cups sugar 2 cups water 3/4 cup dark corn syrup 3/4 cup light corn syrup 2 Tbsp unsalted butter 2 lb salted peanuts 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 Tbsp baking soda Cooking Spray (I use butter flavor) Directions: Combine the sugar, water and both corn syrups in a big soup pot and place over medium heat stirring until the sugar dissolves. Clip a candy thermometer on the side of the pot, then increase the heat to high and boil without stirring until the temperature reaches 260 degrees F. Abo
  20. Haha. It's kind of twisted how addictive it is.
  21. Something's not right here, rustinmaz. You've been "way too into the band and need to take a step back" yet this is the first time you're posting here and this is what you are posting. Sorry but I'm suspicious of your motives.
