Chendizzle
After a couple listens, I can safely say this song rocks my socks.
bigideas
finely heard it. pretty interesting. don't see it being a mainstream radio single like Fell in Love or Seven Nation Army (or whatever the name was) - there are too many weird stops/instrumental passages i would think. i have no idea if Blue Orchid got played on the type of stations that play top 40 (britney spears, etc) anyway though (as i don't listen to that type of station). solace
crazy that this song has no actual chorus...
Papillon Parade
Love the new single, finally heard it Saturday night. Just scored 3rd row tix for the anniversary show in Glace Bay!
the letter k
The White Stripes are so much better than the Black Keys it's not funny. we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I LOOOOOOOVE the Stripes and will buy everything they ever put out, but The Black Keys are just too damned awesome.
Kicking_Television
agreed. great song, but better not be one of the better songs on the record by any means. the fade doesn't ruin it, but it'd be better without it. i've been saying for years that fades shouldn't exist
PigSooie
I haven't seen this posted anywhere, but here's the video. Meg is smokin'. Sorry if it's already been posted here. http://music.aol.com/franchise/firstview/w...ripes-new-video
Elixir Sue
Â I love that video. "Ay gringos, que?"
rwrkb
i watched the video this morning before hitting the road, i definitely dug it. they always do fun videos, but this was up there with there best, i think.
rareair
i like that video a lot. that song also sounded great live.
TCP
crazy that this song has no actual chorus...I reckon that instrumental bit that gets repeated is the chorus, just no vocals.
Welsh Rich
Had the official promo of the single through yesterday - I was really excited though as I thought it was the album, the package was covered in "Icky Thump" stickers... but, alas, just the single. Having a good listen, it is completely bonkers in places and the lack of a chorus is great. At least they're trying to do something genuinly different!
rwrkb
btw, the best moment in the video is when jack covers meg's eyes in one of the segments of them playing.
Sir Stewart
I wish I liked this song more - what's the opposite of a grower? A shrinker? That's what 'Icky Thump' is doing for me.
PigSooie
It's ok, man. Don't beat yourself up about it.

Sir Stewart
I've always been more of a fan of their less noisy tunes, so I guess this figures.
PigSooie
"Hotel Yorba"?
Sir Stewart
"Hotel Yorba"?Do I like that? It's good - but I'm more of a "We're Going To Be Friends"/"My Doorbell" kind of fan.
jakobnicholas
I've always been more of a fan of their less noisy tunes, so I guess this figures.  I somewhat agree. But you have to figure the single is gonna be a funky, aggressive rocker to get some attention.  For example, "I Wanna Be the Boy" is one of my favorite Stripes songs ever....but it would be very weird if it was the first single released. It was better to have "Seven Nation Army" boldly announce the arrival of Elephant.  "Icky Thump" is saying, "yo....don't forget about Jack and Meg....we gotta a new disc coming out, and it's gonna rock your world." solace
for me i prefer the rockers (thus why my fave album is still De Stijl), but i hate Jack's often nasally whine, which occurs mostly on the higher tempo stuff... it's a double edged sword :/
Sir Stewart
I agree, jakob. As an exception that proves the rule, "Seven Nation Army" is probably my favorite song of theirs.
