jimmyjimmy
I didn't watch the entire thing but what I did see was a angry guy.I, and others I work with have been talking about this today. Some see it as unsettling and disturbing, others find it indicative of some inner resolve/strength.It'll be interesting to see how un-decided voters interpret it. After last night, I would like to see Barack do something like FDR's fireside chats as president. He explains things well. Fantastic.
Mrs. Peel
All in all, I thought Bob Schieffer did a great job last night. We finally got answers to a few questions that have been prominent in the media and in the minds of voters but were skipped over in the other debates, and he let the conversation flow freely as long as it remained somewhat linked to the original question. We should have skipped over Brokaw and had Schieffer sooner.
cryptique
what the hell is he doing? I haven't seen this.At the end of the debate, Schieffer walked over to Obama's side of the table to shake hands, and McCain started to head over to that same side, but then Schieffer walked over to McCain's side. The picture was snapped just as McCain realized that Schieffer had deked him.

lost highway
There was a good potential avatar animation for the technically inclined. Towards the end when they started a snippy and somewhat unclear exchange about vouchers and the D.C. school district McCain lost it a little and rolled his head back and started laughing with Skeletor Teeth. Very scary, spooky, Halloweeny.
Doug C
I wished for 2 things while watching the debate. I wanted Obama to directly ask MCain this, "John, do you believe that I 'pal around with terrorists'?" If McCain had said, "No" then I wanted Obama to say, "Then John, can you please explain to the electorate why you allow your running mate to accuse me of palling around with terrorists". He was cool enough to pull it off. I didn't want him to but i thought how awesome it would have been if out of nowhere Obama said, "John, I have to say that you are a creepy looking motherfucker. What do you think, Bob?".

Preferred B
It annoyed me a little when Obama would laugh at comments McCain made, but at least it seemed like genuine frustration and not purely a calculated "allow me to laugh, so that I may showcase how ridiculous I find your statement" move. And yeah, much less disturbing than the anger on the other side of the split screen while Obama spoke. One of my favorite McCain reactions last night was his ultra campy "shock" when Obama said that the healthcare-related fine for good ol' Joe Plumber would be $0. He must have held that pose for at least ten seconds.

Just goes to show - they have nothing to offer, all they can do is attack Senator Obama. Secret Service investigating threat from Scranton Palin rally BY DAVID SINGLETONSTAFF WRITER Published: Wednesday, October 15, 2008Updated: Wednesday, October 15, 2008 5:36 PM EDTThe U.S. Secret Service is investigating a threatening remark directed at Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama during a political event in Scranton. The agency followed up on a report in The Times-Tribune that a member of the crowd shouted, "Kill him!" after one mention of Mr. Obama's name during a rally Tuesday for Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. The remark came while congressional candidate Chris Hackett was addressing the crowd at the Riverfront Sports Complex. There is no indication Mr. Hackett or Mrs. Palin, who took the stage a half-hour later, heard the remark. The remark was reported almost immediately on the newspaper's Web site and today in the print edition. Times-Tribune employees who covered the rally were interviewed today by the Secret Service. Spokesman Darrin Blackford said the agency takes the threat seriously. If the agency can determine who shouted the remark, it would present that information to federal prosecutors, he said. Mrs. Peel
I was wondering if that remark was actionable. I figure if they find the guy who shouted it he can just say he meant "kill him by winning the election".
sweetheart-mine
Just goes to show - they have nothing to offer, all they can do is attack Senator Obama.yah, that was pitifully clear last night. i'd thought, since the attacks of the last couple of weeks were not helping mccain/palin in the polls, that he might come out with a different approach for the last debate (or at least some new material on the attack front!). he just solidified for people who he has become.
