Three dollars and 63 cents
Nels will be on tour with Cibo Matto in September. The full list hasn't come out yet, but venues are starting to announce shows. So far I've seen the Ottobar in Baltimore on 9/11 (which I'll probably go to), the 40 Watt Club in Athens on 9/13, Exit/In in Nashville on 9/16, Pappy and Harriet's in Pioneertown, CA, on 9/28, the Roxy in LA on 9/30. Already excited for Kermit Ruffins and Treme Brass Band, playing the same festival, but it would be great to see Nels sit in with Cibo Matto!
LouieB
I guess I have to go to Europe to see Jeff solo since he got rained out in Chicago. Hoping they reschedule that one, ,but who knows. (Riot fest?? Hideout Block Party??) LouieB
nalafej
The only reason I can think of for Tweedy to not have issued a more apologetic statement regarding the cancellation is that they are working on a make up show. Surely they have to play a show in Chicago to promote the new album if they want the album to be successful.
uncool2pillow
Why on earth would he apologize?
nalafej
Why on earth would he apologize? Easy killer! Their last tweet/communication (to my knowledge) was: "Today's #TasteofChicago show cancelled due to bad weather. More info as we get it." I've often seen artists issue statements lamenting their inability to perform and expressing empathy for those inconvenienced by the cancellation and committing to reschedule do something to make people happy. uncool2pillow
The only reason I can think of for Tweedy to not have issued a more apologetic statement regarding the cancellation is that they are working on a make up show. Surely they have to play a show in Chicago to promote the new album if they want the album to be successful. I would suggest another reason he hasn't been more apologetic is that he did nothing wrong. It was great that Lucinda played a make-up gig that night. She's not from Chicago and probably doesn't play there nearly as often as Jeff does. I interpreted your tone from the use of the phrase "The only reason I can think of" as to suggest that if Mr. Tweedy doesn't announce a make-up show sometime soon that he has somehow slighted his fans. There were storms, the organizers of the event canceled it, not him. Tweedy will most certainly play again in the Chicago area whether something imminent or not. If he hasn't satiated Chicago area fans' desire for his music, it certainly isn't for lack of trying over the years. I just think you might be reading too much into the silence on this matter. Killer, geez.
nalafej
I appreciate your additional suggestion and agree it is a highly probably explanation. I agree the cancellation wasn't Tweedy's fault. I don't think Tweedy slighted his fans or owes us fans a show, but I expected more communication on the cancellation based on the last line in their last communication 3 days ago. I am optimistically hoping that the reason for the lack of additional info is related to something awesome coming our (fans) way. Jeff Tweedy is known for bringing the awesome to his fans. Simple as that. It didn't appreciate the "Why on earth" wording you chose to phrase your question to me as if I'm some sort of moron. Didn't seem called for. But, no worries. It is all good. Magnetized
I agree that Jeff didn't owe anyone an apology, but I also thought he would have announced some kind of a hastily arranged makeup show. If there's anyone in Chicago who has the connections to locate a venue and schedule something at the last minute it's Jeff and Sue! In fact, even though I'm usually a relentless Wilco booster, I did put out a post on their Facebook and Twitter accounts on that day suggesting that they take a cue from Jason Isbell. (Jason was scheduled to open for Willie Nelson a couple of days prior to Taste, somewhere in Oklahoma, and when Willie cancelled the show due to illness, Jason located another venue at the last minute and put on what sounded like a great show. I thought it was an especially cool move, and then Lucinda followed suit in Chicago.)
Three dollars and 63 cents
The Nels Cline Singers are playing two sets at Rough Trade in Brooklyn on November 10. This is right after Cyro Baptista has a residency in New York, so I'm guessing he'll be playing with them again. I'm super bummed out I won't be able to make it up there for this one. Three dollars and 63 cents
The Nels Cline Singers are playing at Firehouse 12 in New Haven, CT, on November 7. There are sets at 8 and 10 (the early is $20, and the late is $15): http://firehouse12.com/performance_space_calendar.asp Cyro Baptista will play with the Singers at the Rough Trade show but not the New Haven or DC shows because he'll be doing a residency in New York then. Magnetized
I know a couple of Wilco fans who went to the 9:30 club last night for the Big Star tribute with Pat Sansone (among many others), but unfortunately they don't generally post on here. Did anyone else go, and if so would you let us know how it was? It looks like they were at the Cat's Cradle the night before.
Shakespeare In The Alley
pat was only at the dc show. they said he flew in from chicago right before the 930 club show. hes playing a solo opening set at iota in arlington tonight apparently. i wont be there though cuz i havent been too impressed by pats own stuff he was cool at the big star show. played a lot of guitar, sang a few songs (including feel and i am the cosmos) and looked happy to be involved. thats all ive got, but the big star show was an incredible evening of music. it was nice to see pat but his presence there didnt really mean anything to me to be honest. part of my skepticism regarding tribute shows is the fact that people will apparently go just to see the performers, when its really about the music theyre performing. it can make for a weird crowd. that aside, it was a wonderful evening though i will add that as someone who digs pat in wilco but finds the autumn defense dreadfully boring, his vocals were quite fitting last night

Heart full of holes
According to North Carolina Museum of Art's calendar, these are "an evening with Wilco" shows - no opener.
