I can understand. I think they should have just done one or two seasons and called it a day.

We'll keep watching. I'm curious about how they're going to tie everything together, but that last episode seemed like such a waste of time.

The one thing that bothered the both of us is that how did a guy in his (seemingly) young 20s in 1975 turn into an 82-year old geezer by 2010?

I also wondered about that. The time period seems to be all sort of weird to begin with. Sort of like Blue Velvet. It is suppose to be modern day - but sometimes it seems as if they are in the late 70s/early 80s.

I just finished season 2 of Master of None, I think it might be better than the first? I was a little nervous going into it because, well, not to sound too hokey, the first season really resonated with me. But I'm happy to report the second season does as well. There's some really good laughs in there, some great social commentary, and Aziz/Dev sorts through some very relatable issues. You can tell a lot of the show comes from personal experiences from Aziz and his friends (the 8th episode of season 2 with Denise is a good example of this) which is what makes the show feel so real, even when the acting isn't the greatest.

That NYC episode is amazing.

I sometimes think he took the Treat Yo Self idea and ran with it.

Yeah the whole New York I Love You episode was great. They deserve an award for the sequence with the deaf woman.

It was funny seeing Bobby Cannavale in some of the episodes. I know him from a show called Third Watch.

We're just a few days away from the return of Twin Peaks, is anyone else excited? I've been rewatching the original two seasons just as a refresher before Sunday but I might not finish in time. So I have to decide whether to watch the premier that night or hold off for a few days till I finish season 2.

Lion.

Christ, for whatever reason I was expecting a lighthearted movie.

Be prepared to lose some water, if you haven't seen it.

Highly recommended.

Lion was my favorite movie from last year, a year with a lot of good movies.

The pickings have been slim so far this year. I enjoyed Kedi very much (a documentary about street cats in Istanbul), I was dispppointed in The Dinner, which despite a very strong cast (Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Steve Coogan) never seemed to go anywhere and had an ending I didn't understand. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was entertaining, but I can't really rave about it.

Um, Twin Peaks?

I still have no idea what I watched last night but it was entertaining ...

I could have done with more that actually took place in Twin Peaks, but it was great. Lynch still has it.

Saw Hidden Figures. Nice movie, and a story that definitely needs to be told, but too bad about the white savior thing (spoiler alert: Kevin Costner smashes the "Colored Bathroom" sign so that the female lead doesn't have to run across campus to use it. In real life, she never bothered going into the "Colored Bathroom" in the first place. She didn't need Kevin Costner to make it right for her.

Also - the modern Pharrell soundtrack was really distracting. Plenty of good songs from that era to use. Oh, but Pharrell was a producer, so I guess he was interested in putting his own music out for the soundtrack. Dumb.

Saw "Chuck" at the theater yesterday and watched "Booker's Place: A Mississippi Story" on iTunes on the recommendation of one of my favorite writers. The second film was better than the first though I wasn't familiar with the boxer whose life was Stallone's inspiration for the Rocky character.

Finished episode 2 of the new season of House of Cards in which they are using terror threats to win the election, only to switch over to the news and learn about more London terrorist attacks. Makes me sad and weary.

The (road) bridge I walk over every day is the one between the two attacked. Used to use London Bridge each day until an office move. Business as usual today though!

  • 3 weeks later...

Wife and I finally caught this over the weekend -- it's been on our list for months.

It was definitely unique and cool to see the cast actually age over the course of the movie (which was shot over the course of 12 years).

The story itself was a bit underwhelming... definitely a movie about the journey, not the destination.
