^Don't forget most of his staff is using emails on private servers now!!

Different circumstances, not a problem now.

Boy oh boy that was some interview. I didn't think any questions were rude, disrespectful or gotcha types. He just can't help himself.

as if there were any questions about Donald's megalomania. who the fuck says this sort of thing? and he's our leader?!?

DAVID MUIR: Mr. President, I just have one more question on this. And it's -- it's bigger picture. You took some heat after your visit to the CIA in front of that hallowed wall, 117 stars -- of those lost at the CIA. You talked about other things. But you also talked about crowd size at the inauguration, about the size of your rallies, about covers on Time magazine. And I just wanna ask you when does all of that matter just a little less? When do you let it roll off your back now that you're the president?

(OVERTALK)

PRESIDENT TRUMP: OK, so I'm glad you asked. So, I went to the CIA, my first step. I have great respect for the people in intelligence and CIA. I'm -- I don't have a lot of respect for, in particular one of the leaders. But that's okay. But I have a lot of respect for the people in the CIA.

That speech was a home run. That speech, if you look at Fox, OK, I'll mention you -- we see what Fox said. They said it was one of the great speeches. They showed the people applauding and screaming and -- and they were all CIA. There was -- somebody was asking Sean -- "Well, were they Trump people that were put--" we don't have Trump people. They were CIA people.

That location was given to me. Mike Pence went up before me, paid great homage to the wall. I then went up, paid great homage to the wall. I then spoke to the crowd. I got a standing ovation. In fact, they said it was the biggest standing ovation since Peyton Manning had won the Super Bowl and they said it was equal. I got a standing ovation. It lasted for a long period of time. What you do is take -- take out your tape -- you probably ran it live. I know when I do good speeches. I know when I do bad speeches. That speech was a total home run. They loved it. I could've ...

(OVERTALK)

PRESIDENT TRUMP: ... gotten ...

DAVID MUIR: You would give the same speech if you went back ...

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Absolutely.

DAVID MUIR: ... in front of that wall?

PRESIDENT TRUMP: People loved it. They loved it. They gave me a standing ovation for a long period of time. They never even sat down, most of them, during the speech. There was love in the room. You and other networks covered it very inaccurately. I hate to say this to you and you probably won't put it on but turn on Fox and see how it was covered. And see how people respond to that speech.

That speech was a good speech. And you and a couple of other networks tried to downplay that speech. And it was very, very unfortunate that you did. The people of the CIA loved the speech. If I was going to take a vote in that room, there were, like, 300, 350 people, over 1,000 wanted to be there but they couldn't. They were all CIA people. I would say I would've gotten 350 to nothing in that room. That's what the vote would've been. That speech was a big hit, a big success -- success. And then I came back and I watched you on television and a couple of others.

I am sure they will be described that way in defense of the President.  We are now in a situation that the administration has de-legitimized the media and the "truth" only comes from the administration and "approved" news sources.  I knew a Trump presidency would be rough, but we are only six days in.

Fuck

Thanks for that. That is how it will be for his entire term. Republican leadership/Congress is so craven. Well, some are craven, but most are just opportunistic, partisan bastards. They are not patriots. The average Trump voter was conned. Some will realize it, most probably won't. The next 4 years, or however long he remains in office, will be entertaining, but it hasn't even been 4 weeks and I'm tired of this show and can't change the channel. Fuck me.

I want to apologize to George Bush I and George Bush II for not paying attention to a single word either of them said during the twelve years total they were in office. Surely anything either of them ever uttered was more worthwhile than this.

I am done with Donald Trump and extremely close to just not paying attention at all any more.

Wake me for the next election.

The wall is the biggest con.  For decades the republican party has been raising increasing their rhetoric on "illegal" immigrants.  They are here to take our jobs, become a drain on our tax system, deal drugs and kill us.  Purpose a solution that sounds good in theory and on the surface, simple enough for the masses to latch on and also make sure that everyone knows that we won't have to pay for it.  Then the switch comes in.  The taxpayers will pay for it up front, but we will get Mexico to pay for it with a 20% import tax.  Never mind that tax will be likely passed on to the consumers through higher prices on food and a lot of other goods.  So Americans get to pay of the wall twice.  Now in every con someone gets rich and it is Donald Trump and his cronies.  Who do you think will get the contracts to build this wall?  And how much do you want to bet that: This wall never gets built  (but the money still goes to corporations building it) or if it does get built it will be only partially built and such a shoty construction that it will be ineffective at best and at worst dangerous.

Donald Trump has fooled enough people to build this wall get them to pay for it twice and they are happy about it.

My hope is that people will start to wake up to this con.

Getting less attention, but more frightening IMO, is the order he signed saying that the White House will now publish a weekly list of all crime committed by illegal immigrants.

Straight out of fucking Nazi Germany.  Forget the fact that immigrants are less likely to commit crime than native-born citizens.  The sole purpose of maintaining a list like this is to demonize and stir up prejudice.

Glad to see my school district, as well as city, take a stand against Trump's purported immigration "laws". I notice a lot of city mayors are taking similar stances. Nice to see the unity in defying preposterous and racially-motivated directives from the Former Reality TV Star Guy.

Holy crap.  That is scary shit.

So we are pretty much done with the 14th amendment.

Who was it that said "Pay no attention to what I say. Pay attention to what I do" or something like that. That's the approach that needs to be taken with the trump administration. I think he and his cronies are deliberately filling the air with lies and distractions to keep the opposition off kilter.

I think we need to focus on what he and his people say, as well as what they do. The press needs to question and pressure them at every press conference and interview.

Of course it will be exhausting, but what else do have to do, right?

https://qz.com/895047/trump-wants-to-turn-the-white-house-into-reality-tv-its-up-to-you-to-change-the-channel/

Some veteran journalists have urged their peers to steer clear of press briefings, which have always been a delivery mechanism for the government’s official story. In the past, the media’s work was to separate the truth from the spin. Given the Trump administration’s predilection for “alternative facts,” however, a recent New York Times op-ed argued that reporters should focus on Trump’s actions and not his words. Don’t be distracted by dazzling pyrotechnics, this theory goes. Acknowledge that the verbal fireworks are meant to divert attention. Focus on the deeds.

This is a false dichotomy. The fireworks provide flashpoints of illumination, rare glimpses of the emerging structures below. The foundations on the ground catch the light above. The press should watch—and chronicle—both. We all should.

...

This is much bigger than dissecting press briefings. It is about making sure that when the history of our time is written, there will be no getting around the truth. We must compile the evidence.

I almost lost my marbles after that recent ABC interview. His total disconnect from reality, the grandstanding and the shallowness of it all was stupefying. Four years of outrage.....OMFG.

I watched the first part of the President's joint press conference with the British PM Theresa May.  Now, May is not my favorite politician, but listening to Trump speak and then her, it was truly shocking.  He not only came off as smug and childish, but profoundly stupid as well.

And his pissing match with the President of Mexico is fucking ridiculous.  Let's get ready to pay $20 for an avocado.
